Title. The reason why I am suggesting this change is one.
Specialist is already extremely hard to roll, you can have specialist as the only role you have on and as high and not be able to roll spec for days. I think even one more specialist slot prior to round start would be a welcome change.
Two. Double burst. Double burst is a massive xeno buff, so I think marines need more muscle to compensate for the amount of larva and tier 3s xenos get thanks to double burst. Marines are gonna need more buffs for double burst to be fair, truth nuke.
Edit: Just one more slot will suffice. Not suggesting 6 pre-start slots, but 5.
there aren’t even enough kits at that point because you’d only be able to have pyro, scout, grenadier/sharp, sniper/heavy sniper, demo which is 5 total
think of the poor low pop xenos
but a 5th spec slot unlocking on high pop could be pretty cool. pretty sure there is a spec limit per squad so make them single echo squad member
Give back power to regular marines.
It is supposed to be asymmetrical, right? Then why the fuck we have special super marines like we have special super xenos?
That would solve the issue, let common grunts be sort of “proto” specs, give PFCs cloaking equipment with a big downside like having to walk instead of running, give them NVG scopes and standard issue bolt-action rifles, give them china lake grenade launchers, also give them firesuit combined with armor and here you go.
Make it restricted to req and we are golden.
Spec is supposed to be special because of the round impact it makes. Current RNG system we have, hate it or love it. its fair, everyone has a chance to roll, you either get lucky and roll 3 times in a row or get unlucky and don’t roll for 2 days straight. Just imagine 5 specs holding one spot. you got Sadar who stuns T3’s Scout and Sniper just Destroying with their 50 AP, and Pyro removing the armour with green flames, then GL stunning all lesser Tiers. Also we’d have to look at how to rebalance requisiton budget cause its going to be heavy.
I would honestly propose we lower the player requirements for tank, or bring back APC.
This makes me think if this was ever hypothetically implemented (which it shouldn’t), that the heavy sniper and sharp kits would be separate in regards to spec limits.
Which would mean two snipers. Or god forbid, THREE with the Foxtrot spec.
Which would be horrifically OP if they actually knew what they were doing.
it is incredibly difficult to balance all of these things at full scale, it’s hard to do with just 4/5 of them. You’d have to ask "if every single marine on the front took this kit, would it be like the first introduction of the l42 carbine with everyone getting free IFF scopes? if so, you have to severely limit it, if not, then it’s probably just a gimmick.
Also it’s going to be hell for xeno players to keep track of so many potential options; at least every breed of xeno (and most if not all strains) are visually unique to the point of rarely ever mixing them up, but you’re fighting so many humans and in such large crowd sizes that it will be practically impossible to distinguish who is carrying what.

No, not everyone would have such a spec kit, so it wouldn’t be like it was with free IFF scopes.
Scout PFCs would have the same/similar cape, pyro PFCs would have unique anti-fire armor so problem solved. Marines already can have single shot nade launchers and guns with invisible attachements, all of that represented by few tiny sprites, completly invisible if marine is facing north, so what is the problem here?
For one I think it is easier to balance on 200 pop like for example 10 marines having heavily nerfed scout’s cape and only that, then around 10 marines having china lake nade launchers, then 10 having flamers with anti-fire armor, then 10 with NVG scopes and then 10 marines with actual single shot nerfed SADAR (like them having to “lock-on” to then shoot xeno, giving it like 1.5 seconds to run away, or something like that).
Tell me that is harder to balance than current state scout spec being able to solo xenos, which none of those PFC specs could do besides those who carry buckshot shotguns against runners, or any spec just getting fucking capped without doing anything.
And it wouldn’t be just a gimmick, you could have actual eyes and ears on xeno flanks, you could have stealth group who could tacticly try to ambush Queen in her nest, or something, this gives command more options.
