Description of the incident:

I was playing the Corporate Liaison role and had briefly deployed to the planet’s FOB at round start despite an early, unauthorized launch (the early, unauthorized part became apparent after landing because the DS was mostly empty and the pilot said anyone who wanted to arrive in briefing should remain on board after we landed, and I was simply there to request a cockpit seat for first drop but the pilot said ‘40 seconds!’ and launched, I was unaware if it was ordered or not but most likely not given it was most likely at the same time as or shortly before briefing) and realized I would prefer to return to my office for my camera and tape recorder. Upon my return, I could not enter my office. I had opened my shutters and could not open the door. It was clearly hacked. I tried to go around. Every single maintenance access hatch was hacked and made unopenable for those without maintenance training. I shot open a window. My inner quarters door were hacked. Everything was shuttered before I had deployed. Furthermore, the Chief Engineer was, as politely as I can say, severely ‘bald’ (untrained or incompetent which shocks me, literally, unfortunately, as I was under the impression that that role requires prior engineering time) and therefore SHOCKED my doors despite fixing them. As my CL lie on the floor in pain previous the shocking by the door, an MT by the name of Christopher Conrad threw my briefcase into the waste bin and it was sent through down to the new recycler that utterly destroys everything thrown into a disposal unit (my briefcase included). Unsure if this individual (Christopher Conrad) is the same as ID key Bulaven, as that key was provided by an admin at round end. Since all of the maintenance entries were hacked, I could not see the full picture until I offed myself in the lifeboats after hijack because even my pod door was hacked and shocked. There were prints but I only saw them at hijack of course so no time for MP aid. I’m unsure which door the staff member scanned of the many that were hacked as a new round started before I began writing thi,s and all logs were lost to me myself. All in all, this utterly made my round impossible as a successful CL because not only was my office and chiefly my private quarters and even more importantly my fax machine cut off from me for the remainder of the round, but as a result of this horrific griefing incident my entire secure WY briefcase, which I depend upon heavily for bribes and other incentives and personal tools, was destroyed. And to be frank, as an Executive Specialist with over 175 hours as CL, I have NEVER experienced griefing to this degree in which even the maintenance hatches on all sides are disabled and my briefcase destroyed (although the destruction of it was never mechanically possible before, to my knowledge).

Evidence:

I really lack evidence honestly, but I can only hope that the staff has access to the logs of this round ID. Apologies in advance, I seldom make player reports or even ahelp, this is my first forum post since the move in fact, but this really crossed a line with me as I found it to be a truly unacceptable, unforgiveable rule break that severely affected my entire round as CL. Given this being my first report I was unprepared due to ignorance on the how-to, apologies again.

Heya! I’ve gathered up the logs for this situation. They are edited slightly when it comes to messing around with the doors since the door logs are quite hard to understand without some extra information like the location and what wire was pulsed. I’ve also included a picture where all doors that were messed with around the CLs office have a red circle around them.
I also have included a situation in brig later into the round since, while it isn’t inherently part of the report, it does seem relevant to include.

Considering that the shocking of the doors and the trashing of the briefcase were done by different people I’ve included both of those ckeys and characters. I’ll add them to the report also.

Righto! So Bulaven seems to have an issue accessing the forums due to their browser or computer possibly. Because of this I’ve offered to relay a response for them if they wanted to post one. So here it is!
(Please keep in mind that this is Bulaven’s response, I’m just posting it in their stead)

My official defense and rebuttal ought to be this:

While playing that particular round, the Liaison’s doors were modified. Modified through the use of a multitool, which does not leave fingerprints.

With a Chief Engineer, and several Maintenance Technicians, to unbolt and unshock any of the doors, it would have been as simple as pulsing the wires with said tool.

After some time, I had even told the Chief Engineer, in IC fashion, exactly what had been done. A Security Access Tuner was taken, the grounding wire, the door bolt light, and the door bolts themselves, were pulsed. As such, it should have been very easy to reverse the trouble caused with the doors.

The fact that I had confessed that I had done such a thing to the Chief Engineer, and that he had not informed the Military Police, is not, I feel, my fault, nor is his inability to fix a relatively straight-forward problem. I say relatively, as, after I had told him what had been done, it should have been as easy as repeating the steps in reverse. Or, since the wires were pulsed? Just repeating the steps in general.

The Maintenance Technician who had thrown the Liaison’s briefcase into a disposal was not my character. He was not asked to do such a thing, and legitimately had no affiliation with my character, ICly or OOCly. He acted on his own volition.

The reason why the doors were tampered with, to begin with? Well, it’s a fairly straight-forward answer. Aside from the occasional mischief-bolting of a door, which I have been known to perform as a harmless prank, much like those who cause physical injury to others with an extinguisher-chair combo, or a Chef who cooks LSD-filled gelatin for the crew, or even the Maintenance Techs who spend entire rounds naked, damaging the ship and making the lives of the MPs Hell…

I do not make a habit of making the lives of others difficult. The key, here, is that the character in question has a deep-seated disdain for the Weyland-Yutani Corporation due to In-Character grievances which I will not be boring you with here, unless they are specifically requested.

The bolting of the doors was intended as an inconvenience, not a round-ending debacle. If it did end as such, I am, well and truly, sorry that it turned out in such a way. The Chief Engineer was told, I expected the doors to be fixed, and I to be arrested, as was right and just for the inconvenience of it. But… None of this came to be.

In hindsight, perhaps it should be proposed for pulsing doors with an access tuner to leave prints as well? At least then, if such a trick is utilized, the perpetrator can be easily found.

Hey there, while playing on that particular round it was never my intention for the Briefcase to get fully “deleted” and or recycled when putting it in the trash-can.

In all my time playing on Colonial Marines I have only used the trash can recycling system a handful of times. But with each of those times I have been able to use the “Eject Contents” button on the trash can to dispense any items placed within said trash can. Which is why it confused me after having placed said briefcase in the trash can that some time later no one was able to recover it. I was always under the assumption that just like with the “requisitions dropshoot” Within the OT workshop as well as the Research Laboratory. That the trash cans have to be manually engaged with a handle.

((Just as an example, some rounds prior while playing as Doctor Abar Baryon, another one of my characters. I was making “Unga Burgers” , essentially UNGA filled food that has been labeled. Just to add into round fun. While in character being for “Marines” who dislike needles and who need to get their Iron up with a “Nice hearty meal” at the same time.

During this time as I needed some space carrying most of these “Unga Burgers” I initially placed them in a trash bag nevertheless I was unable to empty said bag. So I thought I would be able to place it in a trashcan to dispense and was able to eject the contents without them being automatically recycled.))

This is why I was thinking while playing as Christopher Conrad who deeply respects Weyland Yutani corporation that it would just be some harmless fun to grab the briefcase and place it to the side where to my knowledge it would have just been a simple eject and grab. It was never my intention to have the briefcase deleted and disrupt the fun of the Corporate Liaison in any way shape or form. This is an issue on my part as my knowledge with trash cans up until this time have been primarily limited. Which is why Adzolaria I am deeply sorry if this affected you and your fun. I simply wanted to have some harmless fun and have some small shipside roleplay. In which I only decided to play a prank after seeing the door shocking the Corporate Liaison. I thought that they were simply having some minor fun. Which would cause in-character banter.

Like during that same round when the Corporate Liaison would go around pepper-spraying my character and assaulting them before ultimately later on even name-calling my character which eventually caused a fight to even break out in the brig between both characters.

Personally, if I had known that the trash cans were not manually activated and would activate automatically ((Unless they are manually and someone pressed the handle)) I would have simply tossed the briefcase behind the Corporate Liaisons desk to have a similar effect of causing a minor inconvenience to grab it.

In conclusion I was limited in my experience with Trash Cans and how they function and only wished to cause a minor inconvenience of needing to eject the contents of the bin to add into the fun of the round as well as add in some in-character banter to have shipside roleplay.
I’m sorry that this entire situation affected you or anyone else for that matter, as well as hurt your experience on Colonial Marines. I never intended for this to have happened and only wished to have more roleplay during this time as I knew we would have both been shipside for quite some time. I do hope the next time we play together or anything of the sort that we will be able to have a better time playing. As I did find the situation entertaining that had occurred between our characters in the brig. Especially due to the fact that it occurred right in front of the CMP.

I accept both of these apologies. I understand that things did not go as intended on your part. I am also new to the concept of the trash being ‘recycled’ and destroyed from the round forever. It used to just pile up in the trash room to my knowledge. I apologize for bringing this to the forums, it just seemed like a rule violation in my eyes with little IC reasoning. A Weyland-Yutani loyalist logically would not play a prank on the individual they allegedly support, and someone with disdain for Weyland-Yutani should not have a free pass to sabotage an entire office. However, I myself have a long list of notes, so I understand that we all make mistakes. I would say that if admins decide to punish, it should be nothing more than say a note, nothing like a ban. Though I don’t know how much say I have in the matter so I will leave it to them.

Please do remember to try to be considerate of other players, and remember that even during antagonistic interactions IC, to try not to go so far as to ruin the round of the players behind the screen.
