Alter Xeno Evolution: Larva -> Drone Mandatory

Those are very good points. Tried spitballing addressing them in other ways (eg disabling hostile interactions during the evolution animation and emptying plasma during devolution), but trying to account for this increase in flexibility would further complicate what feels like should be a minor tweak.

They’ll be passing through Drone on their way to the other evolution regardless, so yeah, Return to Noodle feels like the most elegant solution.

The amount of time this would take would make it really not that worth it. Adding a larger cooldown to Devo from evo/devo from strain choice would similarly fix this entire issue.

Letting drones have a bit of versatility on what they can do such as swapping strains with a bit of time investment also isn’t the worst thing in the world, drones are built to be versatile but their strains lock them down pretty tight.

Like if you put the time investment to Devo from runner or whatever into drone, then strain to froot drone, plant your fruits, then wait a four to five minute cooldown or so to revo into runner or a different T1 is it really that worth it? Xeno’s love to be hyper independent but I think that is in the realm of thought for anyone except maybe like a lowpop player that has to functionally handle an entire frontline with 4 other xeno’s

I think it’s better for just devo to larva. Currently one of the advantages of t1 is you can swap castes pretty easily. Squandering it just hurts some good tech for t1 mains, which are rare enough already.

It’s overcomplicating it for a solution that is pretty simple at first sight.

Players should not be punished harshly for trying to swap castes, imo. So long as you’re spending evo points on it regardless.

im not playing drone no matter what mechanical restrictions you put on me

yeah, i really have to be in a “born to play comtech, died and forced to xeno” mood or needing to evo to carrier to want to play drone
