Ammo Count HUD

i honestly prefer not having an ammo counter, i like taking the magazine out an inspecting it before putting it back in with the satisfying load sounds

i hope this would be a toggle-able feature as i dont like excessive hud elements personally :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

A more readable UI isnt a buff. Its simply QoL. And trying to justify bad UI as a good balance decision, shows you shouldnt be listend to for balance.

With the ammo counter being on the side of the gun way up by the mag well, it seems less “immediately viewable.”

Maybe I’m a clunk enthusiast or clunked in the head, but being unable to tell how much ammo you have immediately makes sense to me. Like the shotguns you cannot tell how much ammo they have if you examine them, but you can on the bullet guns because you examine them and see the remaining on the counter, when you choose to look.

Making the marine combat “too ergonomic” will probably make the game too marine sided by raising the player skill through mechanics and not communication, and preparing.

I disagree, adding an ammo counter to the HUD will not result in a measurable increase in combat performance by veteran marines in any way. If you can avoid killing yourself from running out of ammo mid-combat now, then you won’t be killing yourself any less when checking ammo gets easier.

What it WILL help with, is new players. New players are the priority- the poor bastards can’t even load their guns half the time, and just keep clicking their empty guns at souto cans on the floor. Anything that can help assist and make the literal cliff that is SS13’s learning curve less awful should be seriously considered.

This won’t affect veterans, this won’t make marines win easier in a statistically significant way, it’ll literally just help PVT Stanley realise that when his gun isn’t firing, it’s probably because he doesn’t have any bullets left.

Obviously, such a feature should be toggleable, but set to on by default.
