Enforcement Action Taken

Description of the incident:

Previously during the round, the SO had entrusted me with senior command access after they had trouble opening the command tablet locker. Shortly after brief, a marine asked for the USMC flag stored in the CiC armory. Since drop was going to happen soon, I promised them that I was going to get it to them the next time the Alamo cycled. I forgot about this, until the marine called over the radio that the Alamo was going to depart again soon and they still didn’t have the flag. Herbert, being a man of his word, quickly opened the CiC armory and grabbed the flag, much to the dismay of the Captain who was bewildered by this. I brought the flag to the Alamo and returned to the CiC, immediately getting an ahelp as I was coming up the ladder.

The description of the note states that I violated Rule 11 by “[stealing] things as an MP.” I’m contesting this note on the grounds that it was not theft, as I had the proper access to the flag beforehand.

I’m also contesting the note from a roleplay perspective. This was an entirely inconsequential event from the perspective of the round, and would only have served to create more interesting RP scenarios afterwards. Instead, the captain simply did not acknowledge my existence once I had returned (presumably because they knew I had already been dealt with OOC’ly). I would not have done this if I had known there would be OOC consequences for something that I assumed would lead to IC engagement and MP punishment roleplay. This really stinks for me, since I now have to wait 30 days before submitting the WL application I had been preparing because of this note.

I will admit that this isn’t particularly strong evidence, but there was not much time in-between this and having to respond to an admin message for me to further RP this.

You don’t take things from CIC without permission of the aCO. Additionally the armoury equipment, including the flag, is not for freely handing out to people and is generally to be reserved for command deployments and emergencies.

Taking the flag held by the CIC without explicit permission would absolutely be theft.
