Autodocs can be upgraded by research, however they lack any visual indicators when autodocs have been upgraded.
Here is an example.
One of these autodocs has been upgraded.
The other has not due to the cost of upgrading with research biomass and credits.

Neither can anyone else! (its the bottom one)
Unless the researcher constantly informs busy doctors, late joiners and the like(all while busy themselves)it’s very common for people to not realise upgrades have occurred, especially as unless upgraded and everyone is aware about it, the autodoc is largely ignored, because why would you shove a patient (usually in a dire situation) in something to test the 1 in 100 rounds it one may be upgraded.
My idea is simple, add a description that states what upgrade appears to be installed on the autodoc when examining it, and add a GREEN indicator on the console panel which I have circled in red below.

(Also adding a battery power upgrade for X clearance would be kinda sweet for power failure situations)
