Round ID:
28227
Your character name:
Lucas ‘Spanky’ Castillo
Accused character name:
Jason ‘Smoker’ Prescott
What rule(s) were broken?:
Right to appeal
Description of the incident:
I got arrested, requested an appeal, MP(Jason ‘Smoker’ Prescott) tells me I have the right to appeal but doesn’t give me an appeal form then walks away. Doesn’t give me an appeal form, I start bitching about it, another MP walks over with an appeal form(I’m assuming it was an appeal form) in his hand (after the 5 minute timer), doesn’t address it as an appeal form, doesn’t even open the glass slider-- just tells me I’ve refused the appeal, then walks away.
They also never read me my charges.
Evidence:
I don’t have the logs because I was trying to survive after hijack (which is how I ended up getting out) and by the time I died, it all had moved too far up in the chat.
yeah apologies for that one, was busy trying to figure out why we had so many other perma prisoners and was questioning the nurse next door to you. I should have infact handed you that appeals form immediately. Though I would like to note, the time between charging you, and me releasing you for hijack was about 7 or so minutes. I was going to deal with you.
I did also tell you your charge however the moment I detained you.
After investigating the incident, we saw that while you were attempting to weld the permabrig wall to help a prisoner escape, MP Jason ‘Smoker’ Prescott heard noises and arrested you. To respond to your claim directly, here are the relevant logs:
“Jun 8, 2025 03.10.35.106 SAY: Jason ‘Smoker’ Prescott: You’re under arrest for jailbreaking.”
“Jun 8, 2025 03.13.10.866 SAY: Jason ‘Smoker’ Prescott: You have the right to an appeal.”
“Jun 8, 2025 03:15:04.799 SAY: Lucas ‘Spanky’ Castillo: Appeal form or else.”
During this time, MP Prescott was occupied with other matters. He eventually released you following the hijack announcement:
“Jun 8, 2025 03:20:49.941 Jason ‘Smoker’ Prescott has prematurely ended the jail timer of Lucas ‘Spanky’ Castillo.”
The arrest procedure was followed properly. You were informed of both the charge and your right to an appeal, and the time mentioned in the Marine Law did not exceed considerably. Any appeal requests you made during your arrest, before your brig timer was started, were not valid because at that point, no charges had been processed yet. For this reason, only the appeal requests after your brig time began can be considered valid. MP Prescott did not violate Marine Law and Rule 11, therefore we are denying this report.
Another issue we would like to mention is some of your actions. Welding the ship’s hull to assist in a jailbreak without a valid roleplay reason is not acceptable. Furthermore, the language you used after being arrested was inappropriate and borderline abusive. We also noticed the following line from you:
“Jun 8, 2025 @ 03:22:55.888 SAY: Lucas ‘Spanky’ Castillo: I’m reporting it to high command already.”
You were in a cell at the time, and there was no in-character way for you to contact High Command. Swapping the word “Admin” with “High Command” does not justify breaking immersion, and we strongly advise against continuing this behaviour.
