A Whiskey Outpost style gamemode set on a colony before it completely fell, with the colonists attempting to survive a siege by the Xenos. Mostly, the idea is inspired by the moment in Aliens where the marines are uncovering the remnants of the colonists’ last stand.
The Roles would be civilian counterparts to the existing marine roles: CO would be the Colony Director, MPs would be PMCs or CMB, and the generic marine would be various random civilian roles like pizza delivery drivers and WeyMart employees. Maybe there could even be some CLF random spawns among their numbers. Having direct parallels between the marine and colonial roles should help prevent at least some of the disorganization which seems to normally haunt any event featuring civilian roles. In fact, I don’t really see any reason why civilians can’t still spawn in squads led by colonial managers and Wey-Yu personnel, that wouldn’t really be unjustifiable.
The balance would certainly be Xeno-favorite, with military grade equipment probably being sparingly spawned in, but that’s kinda the point. It’d be a gamemode intended with the balance philosophy of early CM, that the aliens are supposed to more or less feel like a huge threat. Hopefully the Xenos being able to cleave through marines like butter would make the gamemode a little more palatable for their players as well.
The map could be anything, but I think ideally it would be a large colonial center like the headquarters in Aliens, or nexus on LV-624 but much bigger. There’d be separate departments in a circle leading back to the command center at the very middle of the building. Or it could just be a cleaned up version of the normal colony maps, anything really works I think.
Of course, any of this could be subject to change, I just generally think the idea of a big colonist last stand would be very fun as a more consistent gamemode.
