Cyro'd slots are offered to ghosts before main menu players

Title. If a marine goes to cyro as any role, the slot is offered to any ghost, which whoever accepts is spawned in as a random char as that role.

Was discussing this on the discord, seems a few people think its not an entirely terrible idea.

Would offset the fact that xenos get free larva for marine pop while marines can loose people to cyro.

Would cycle people into the game more often that dont want to play xeno which is a good thing.

Having more people having fun rather than sitting dead is also a good thing.

Side effects would be main menu players get less choice, would help marines a lot on lowpop

this seems rather fair, honestly since it is the same as how xenos get ghostroled why not marines, especially if they are a important role such as spec, losing a spec to just someone disconnecting or having complications means a lot more when the only way to get another one is the -chance- of a guy joining and not hitting observe the instant they realise round has already started

Good idea for important roles like specs SGs and SLs but I bet some people would use alts to cryo as a rifleman after dying for a chance at playing again so locking it to only important roles would be preferable.

Following the same “random name if the player already played as a marine” rule would be ideal.

Should it be instant or timed? Or a new Verb “Join as cryoed role”? Alerting the ghosts from time to time?

It should check for timelocks for sure. It should also be free for both ghosts and the lobby at the same time.

A +1 from me.

Thought this over some more.

Probably should prevent people who cyro/ghost themselves from being able to take slot offers for 20-30 minutes or something. This is to effectively, dissuade people from cyroing and trying to roll for a better role, who should be using their own slot. Should also dissuade brigged people from just ghosting and trying to get back into the game. Also makes it mechanically impossible for people to take their role back after cyroing, no resetting your health/avoiding in game MP consequences.

Agree on keeping your char if you havent used it yet that round like how foxtrot does it.

I’d argue that if this gets coded ( I cant cod gud :frowning: ) It’d be better if it wasnt like how claiming freed mobs is and rather done like ERTs are where you enter a pool draw. Yeah, mostly cope because I can never click fast enough.

This is true for both Xenos and Marines. The argument was if Xenos can do it, why can’t marines?

it would be less of a problem than xenos since non-combat roles cant act on that information and combat roles will deploy after at least a couple minutes, likely rendering it outdated
