I am currently enlisted in the US Army and will head to basic in the next few days. I have been training physically as much as I could the past few months.

I really appreciate this community and I found it very helpful in maintaining my sanity. I was a terminally online student who was studying for a career I had no passion or interest in. Military service was something I dreamed about, but I had been very unfit/obese growing up until now.

I am thankful for getting the chance to interact with many great people on discord and on the forums. It was my favorite pastime sharing vods on discord related to cas/ob disasters or fragging zenos.

Hopefully all goes well and I can join back in on my free time. Until then, I look forward playing again and seeing how different CM-13 will be.

Hey nice to see somebody else also having enlisted. I ETS’s already as a 68W, but I’m proud of you for serving your country. Please keep your mental health in check - it’s as important as your physical. You’ll see some dumbass bullshit during basic, AIT (or OSUT if you’re combat arms), and even with your proper unit. Keep your head up, and do not think that you’re ‘a little bitch’ for seeking help.

Remember that your challenges only make you stronger, but sometimes those challenges will be too hard to bear. I pray that you’ll have an excellent unit with a strong leadership who cares about their soldiers.

Also PLEASE DO NOT LOSE YOUR SI (Sensitive Items I.E: NVG’s, Gas mask, Firearm, etc). You do not want to spend almost an entire week in the COF sleeping on the ground, unwashed and shit - because some fucking Officer dropped their pistol in the porta-johns and wouldn’t confess (true story). Tie that shit up with 550 cord and secure that shit.

I wish you luck. The Army is what you make of it. You will have the time to play when you get to your unit proper. All your money that you earn is PURE LUXURY money, but do not spend it all and save some. BUUUUT - you can afford high speed internet for your barracks… also don’t get married. It’s not worth the hassle. Trust.
