As it stand DNA dissintrgraion is a bit of an underwelming chem. It’s super rare and WY really wants it. But consdering how much fuss they make about it the chem itself is kind of useless.
I get why WY might want a chem that turns you inot a xeno. But they don’t send goons over when you scan egg plasma. I feel like the interactions with the WY goons could be more intresting if the chem did something more usfull or at least unique.
That would encourage the Wy people and the rsr to acttually do science with it.
So i ask you all to give ideas for what that should be.
I am not for it. Not to say it can’t be done, but let me highlight some problems with it.
Currently DDI is reproducible. It ‘usually’ has some godforsaken combination with thwei and egg plasma, or is just unknown, but sometimes it is simple enough. If it was beneficial, you keep a copy or write down the ingredients, give the originals to the ERT, and then after they leave mass produce something somehow beneficial. So, this new keyword has to have some characteristic that forces the recipe to include unobtainium, or other ways to trick the current chem system.
Current interactions with missing DDI. Cool, so your new chem is now one of a kind from 1), and does some cool benefit. Maybe it’s a ungodly stim for 5 minutes for a single marine, turning them half xeno half human, enough to unga push and turn the tides! Or maybe with OT’s help you can put it into an OB shell, and effectively make an OB.
The problem now is with all the cases research tried to hide DDI in the past. First their lab gets turned inside out in searching. Then, the researchers get detained and searched down for the drug. There is usually a lot of RP talking with the researchers involved. Sometimes CIC and MPs step in, and there’s a firefight. Then sometimes CL calls for WY to strip research of all their machines. In any case, it ranges from highly disruptive to flat out stopping the researcher’s work. There is a decent chance stims and greenos are put on hold indefinitely. The only time they didn’t fully disrupt research, researchers either eventually gave them the drug, hijack started, or it was sent to some location like FOB for them to do a fetch quest. So why did you make an OB/stim out of this? It would only be worthwhile if research just wasn’t going to make a stim or greenos. It is essentially now still just a meme.
risks vs returns. You somehow at least made 2) tolerable. You put some restriction on what the investigation team could do, and forced them to use lawyers or something. Whatever you did, I doubt it stopped WY team from disrupting stim/greenos in half the rounds. That is a really heavy risk. So what did this 1 or 2 vials actually do to be worthy of potentially removing stims/greenos? I would only see worth at what I stated in 2), 5 min godmode or an extra OB. Something of that impact. In some rounds DDI is found and scanned at the 40-ish minute mark. Having RNG just give you an extra OB or stims at 40 min mark is an unfair level of RNG. So maybe all it does is if all 30U goes into a dead marine not perma marine, they instantly revive fully healed. Get that sadar up immediately, all fracs fixed. Now we run back into: you seriously risked stims and greenos and intel points on a single revive?
TLDR of 3): just because something OP it is rare doesnt make it balanced. Yet something not OP just isn’t anything more than a meme.
I don’t know maybe have it do strange things that can be benfical but have a chance to do somethigng bad. Have it be dose dependant to maximize chances and stuff based on the property level. Perhaps the close to the edge you go the more power the benfit.
