On average, how many hours are you available to moderate in an average week?
10? 20? I’m not sure how much I play a week.
Qualifications:
Do you have previous experience in game or community moderation?
I adminned a few discords maybe 2-3 years ago
Provide any links to any previous CM-SS13 whitelist, mentor or staff applications:
Have you ever been banned for more than 24 hours on CM-SS13?
Nope
Can you actively engage and communicate with the team through Discord?
yes
Final Details:
Why would you like to join the CM-SS13 staff team?
I realized that through speaking on the discord/game and complaining about how LRP the game I was effectively yelling into a void for no reason. The community doesn’t change because of one random person speaking. I’m not saying the current moderation is bad, I just don’t think there’s enough people in the team, and I’d like to make this game better for everyone, especially those who want a better roleplaying experience. Frozents also said I had the brain for good events.
What makes you a great addition to Staff? (Experienced Tabletop DM, Aliens Lore Buff, Super Organized, etc.?)
I’m pretty familiar with a few of the admin tools, I mess around a lot on my own local. I’m also familiar with code/VV so I can probably hotfix any bugs that impact somebody’s game, since personally I’ve had bugs that admins didn’t know how to fix impact my round before.
In your opinion, what is the most important quality of a CM-SS13 staff member?
Being able to tell the difference between somebody ‘having fun’ and an action that impacts the quality and setting of the round as a whole. Also, being nice.
Anything else you want to add?
I’ve had a few issues recently with dead-chat toxicity, but I’d like to say I have improved as a person past doing crap like that. I’m also working on improving how I act ingame while playing a xenomorph, because I have been pretty LRP
While his characters seem a bit unapproachable at first, Doc himself is an absolute sweetheart. In my short time knowing him (the last few months) He’s shown to me that he cares about the server, the lore and RP standards, the servers’ future and it’s players.
+1 fo sho, definitely a good pick and more staff for low-pop is always a good bonus.
Hey there, @Therealdoooc213 thank you for your application. It’s always been exciting to see players who want to contribute to the community.
I believe pointing out the issues you had in the past and stating that you’ve shown improvement is genuine. However, because some incidents still happen quite frequently, I can say that staff do not yet trust you with moderation tools. For that reason, we have decided to deny this application for now.
There’s also an important point I would like to bring up.
We have rules for a reason. If every staff member were to judge incidents based on their own “sense of fun” we would end up with an extremely unfair moderation environment. Players are not/shouldn’t obligated to align themselves with a staff member’s idea of fun. For some players, even following the rules is already difficult, on top of that, trying to moderate players using something as highly subjective as “fun” is definitely not a quality we are looking for, nor something that should be encouraged.
