Early drop?

Had an idea I was thinking of toying with after a disastrous command round last night. What do people think of early drop?

Like ordering delta to deploy at 00:15 to get comms up, find survs or scout colony.

Aside from hrp larp, it has potential to:

Save survs, give marines a fun early objective like saving delta if they get into a pickle, soul

Cons:

Unlikely a full squad will be kitted and ready to go by 15 (although it doesnt necessarily require a full squad, just a forecon), reduces significant manpower if they die (they probably will (but it’s delta they have 90% casualty rate most rounds anyway this just expedites the inevitable)), if they die theyre removed from round super early if not recovered(guess you could make it on a volunteer basis), and it’s off meta so good chance it will be very hard to coordinate and people will be pissed cause it’s not the same thing they’ve done the past 30000 rounds

Is this worth trying, if nothing else just to do something different every once in a while?

Edit: Wait is it not possible? I thought I read somewhere the other day that it was mechanically possible to deploy at 15, if it’s not then this idea is kind of moot unless you delay deployment for other squads, which probably would most certainly get one squad killed

They will be, unless Req throws or Corpsmen want their meta pills..

Was there a new update reducing fuel time to 00:15?

Regardless, it’s in the benefit of Marines to deploy at 00:15 because survivors will definitely be alive, Xenos won’t have T3s and Hive won’t be built up as much. Delta could more-or-less wipe out the entire Hive at 00:15 (look what FORECON do to Xenos on CC). It’d become insanely OP to deploy even one squad at 00:15 very quickly.

Okay so in fact you CANNOT deploy at 00:15.

With that in mind, what do yall think of only deploying one squad first drop after survs are dead and xenos have t3 :tro:

You mechanically cannot launch dropship before 00:20. And 00:20 launch is pretty common.

You are required to have a fob. So if you did this, it would be one squad manning fob.

Too much fun for Ruin squad.
Send bravo. Give em something to shoot before they stuck at FOB forever. Fr

im always ready at abt 6 mins as delta sl

Mr thicc. I am pretty sure you were there when the 00:20 drop rule was implemented. It is necessary so we wouldn’t get 00:26 marine majors

Proper timing.

So just a straight nerf to Marines by only letting them deploy one squad? They wipe if they push out and wipe out if they stay in FOB as Xenos would just eventually destroy the turrets

Well I tried it the other day with sending just Bravo at 00:20 to secure the LZ, along with an SO and the IOs

Alpha, charlie, delta stayed at brief

they made it to second drop

it was pretty anticlimactic, not much difference

(this was also in part due to both req and chemline having nobody to man them for a bit, so i figured marines would need more time to prep either way)

I assumed that it was a world where only squad can deploy in 00:20 - Xenos don’t have the meta information that drop is staggered - so obviously Bravo would work. There’s no real reason to do this though in the current world, unless you hardcore metagame and try draw Xenos into FOB vs Bravo, which could be fun to drop ,ACD on top of.

yeah, although the current space turret handhold kinda prevents that. That’s why I initially thought of delta, cause theyre guaratneed to push out of FOB and potentially get in a situation where other squads deploy and get to them on a timecrunch. Other than artificially engineering a problem to solve to make the game more fun or interesting, yeah it doesn’t really serve much purpose lol
