Expand APOLLO/Maint Tickets

You can file maint tickets in only one place that I’m aware. The APOLLO PC outside of ARES AI Core. There should be more- preferably one in each department, so if say a Medbay window gets broken, they can file a ticket.

Second, all MTs should get an APOLLO tablet, or ARES tablet, whatever its called, so they can hear/check the tickets.

Third, the tablet currently just makes a little sound effect that lets you know it updated. I’ll be honest… forever I actually thought that sound effect meant that there was a byond update/newsletter thing. The tablet should also make something like a “Buzzes as it updates” text so people realize it updated.

Also as far as I’m aware, CE and MTs cannot close maint tickets as finished, only like- cancel ones they made.

1, there are a couple around, one near the emergency supplies in engineering and maybe one in research

2, the ticket system is for joes, and so are the tablets. they have more than just the tickets on then so it would have to be a different item

3, theres also a big ARES announcement on the apollolink radio channels that joes have because the tickets are for joes

4, thats because its for joes

a separate ticket system for MTs might be good, but you can also just yell at them over the radio instead

I believe there’s also one in the CIC, or at least there used to be. Doesn’t need to be a ton of them, it’s not like a fire alarm, you’re not usually in a rush to find one, but maybe one in the brig, medbay and requistions would be good since those areas are prone to minor damages.

Maybe they could just have a seperate technician’s tablet that’s strictly for maintenance tickets. I personally like using the APOLLO system because it’s more realistic than shouting over the radio that there’s a smashed window or a broken lightbulb which are pretty common insignificant issues. Working Joe’s aren’t particularly common so allowing more people to access the ticket system and respond to them might be worthwhile. Sure, it falls in the same category as stuff like medical records and the little HUD notes MedHUDs can apply as mostly just being fluff nobody really bothers with (outside of marking hugged patients) but I think it’d be nice to have.

CE gets a tablet too :+1:

Also… the handheld device beeps when you get a regular report but not when there’s a priority report. That’s either backwards or both should be beeping.

When was this added?

almost a year ago now actually

That checks out.

MTs probably should have these to give them some more shit to do - theres almost always no joes because you need the synth WL for them for some reason

Synths and Working Joes almost never get Appollo or maint ticket requests, the majority of them are made by other working joes and synths or by themselves. MTs wouldn’t have anything else to do with it.

because theres almost never anyone to make the tickets to…

First off, anyone CAN log into the many APOLLO computers and file a Maint Ticket. Most people don’t know about them- they dunno they can file the ticket, they dunno the CE gets pinged on his PDA when it’s a non priority ticket.

Part of the problem when it comes to no one filling out these reports… is because no one is aware of the system! MTs don’t get a PDA so they never check it. Working Joes don’t talk so they don’t explain the system. If MTs got a PDA which they could check but not close/cancel reports, and CE could close reports as Done, I think the system would get a lot more use- and it’d improve the Working Joe role because people would actually file things to be done.

Well in my experience of playing working joe and synth I can say that the majority of the time there is nothing to be done because other MTs are already on the scene immediately (they are blueballed the whole round with nothing to do with other than assaulting MPs or talking to friends in medbay) and the times I do get them they are for places like brig and CIC (which has happened twice in instances where MTs had broken the law and were incarcerated). I had one Appollo ticket made in my 30+ rounds of working joe made for somewhere outside of brig and that was a door in medical that another MT had beat me to. If there is anything to be done, tickets are made as a last resort and it gets resolved in a matter of minutes after asking for help on the radio by an MT.

You get shipside vandalisim like once a round, thats the sort of stuff Appollo tickets are for. 9/10 times the only maint ticket is created by one of the working joes with just goes “SUPPORT-FRONT DESK” and he stays at the front desk watching youtube.

The only thing a working joe does the majority of the round with his Apollo tickets is basically borderline talking to himself repeating what he is doing, if a Joe is cleaning up the Alpha squad prep there will be a ticket that goes “JANITORIAL-ALPHA SQUAD PREPERATION” and he will claim it while working on it.

Maint bars are also a high priority.

because there’s almost never any Joes, so why would anyone bother hunting down a console and writing a ticket

the catch 22 of Workin Joe

imho, we should have more decrepit maint shafts, add rats and spiderlings and shit so MTs have something to clean when they arent fixing OT’s workshop

the thread really should’ve been “make more dynamic damage / mess across the ship for MTs & Joes to clean"“

That would be cool. I agree.

I thought of the same, like add a 1% chance that ship starts with no power and MTs, CE have to go fix generators and stuff so people could deploy. Inspired by the lights taking around 15-25 sec to turn on after you climb out of round spawn cryopods

The lights don’t turn on until the map is finished loading, which is why some maps it’s instant and Hybrisa is like 40 seconds :frowning:
