You don’t. You can literally play the game with no meds AT ALL. Just ask medics to treat you, they never refuse. This is how a lot of people play the game basically.
You took a lot of unnecessary stuff and then complain you can’t fit everything in, asking for more storage. There is a made-up term for this: storagecreep.
I am honestly really surprised you are doubling-down on this. This is storage management for you. Be smart, make sacrifices. It’s okay to take less mags in favor of taking more meds. Or other way around. That’s the point of storage management. You have to put thought into this. Instead of suggesting giving everyone bag of holding so they can carry everything in the game at no cost.
I think Wintermote is referencing a time long ago when inventory management did not really exist. You could take a backpack and easily access it without a wind up and there was much less of an expectation for both normal and support roles to take so many items to be effective
In a way this makes sense because things used to die faster back then, corpsmen were more defib bots than anything since most people died with multiple fracs and fracs were so debiliating back then that if you had 2 or more you might as well evac (and doctors have no considerations for inventory management since all their shit is right next to them).
Engineers used to have other methods outside of building to bully xenos (electroc shocking, hidden door traps, disposal traps, etc) so metal was not that much of a consideration, and even then metal was pretty abundant AND cades were decently powerful without having to upgrade them numerous times.
The game was VERY different back then. Nowadays you need 2x sometimes 3x the supplies you did back then to achieve a similar result in ALL roles, not just support roles. The power creep in general of all items have spawned “patches” to said power creep like engineering bag, large pouches, IMP racks / loose ammo boxes (these never existed before back then), and much more.
TL;DR I get where Wintermote is coming from but we are not going back as its been the maintainer vision to add more attrition to marines to force them to retreat when they start losing steam so that xenos can regain land.
It’s a shame the average john marine suffers from not min/maxing and could use a buff, but that’s the way it is. You give enough space that the average person doesnt have to think about organization, and that min/maxer is now carrying an entire squad’s worth of equipment to battle.
While some kits can be rather jam-packed (I find this especially true with certain medic load-outs I do), the optimization portion is something I enjoy. But even ignoring that, I think the criticisms here of your load-out are not necessarily people trying to “min-max” it. Your load-out has fair criticisms, and changing even just couple things around, using a couple different storage items, or forgoing some things would provide you significant repose.
Beyond that, I think roles like medic and engineer are meant to have some space limitations. You’re playing a utility role where you can perform duties that others can’t, and these additional abilities come with costs or requirements to perform those duties. You can choose with your load-out how capably you want to perform those duties, as well as how combat capable you are. I suppose your complaint is about that tug-of-war, but I personally enjoy it, I don’t personally think the inventory is too small.
there are definitely useless items that you get in the basic engineer pack. you can throw away the etool, sandbags, 4 of the 5 apc boards (why would you ever need so many bro) and the light replacer. screwdriver can go behind the ear. throw away the motion detector too bro you wont have enough ammo to chase and kill the xeno harassing you
I think if/once the FOB rework comes out, lighting up buildings is gonna become much more powerful. Right now, the front moves too quickly on a good marine push in order to make the process of securing flare-free semi-permanent lighting in the backline valuable.
When I did play comtech (hate trappers too much to bother anymore), I ran out of APC boards all the time.
People throwing away sandbags don’t know the value of sandbags. If you’re a comtech and don’t understand your sandbags it’s a legit skill issue on your part. Also you can just put your etool folded into a construction pouch or your toolbelt
yes sandbags are very good only issue is that 25 bags is just not enough ( that and some maps barely have any dirt.) so you are better off just giving it to fob.
PREACH FAM PREACH
Bible is such an underrated storage item. I love it for MREs and random shit.
Honestly OP just needs to wear his damn helmet and use its 2 slots.
Armor for ammo only. Big welder backpack for fuel/storage maxxing.
This chat has some big brain replies. But Bible? The Lord Christ is my savior…
Sandbags are okay when you put them in webbing. Sandbags in a construction pouch is a waste of space. Metal sheets is a normal-sized item that goes into construction pouch. You can put up to 50 metal which is worth 12 cades. On the screenshot there is only 25 sandbags that is only 5 cades. Overall if you aren’t going to buy extra 25 sandbags and carry them around in your webbing it’s really better to just drop them by Alamo for Bravo to use later.
Dude he messed up big time. Ever since that fucking post I’ve seen sweatlords biblemaxx by taking 2 or 4 bibles out of the 5 we have.
Every. Single. Fucking. Round.
I send sandbags all the time. I teach other people in req to send sandbags, because sandbags help protect metal, they are great for quick defense fixes, anyone can place them, they are quick to build.
Perfect for forward cades or backups when shit goes south.
If you don’t want to use sandbags, give em to req so we can send em, but don’t just leave them to rot in your prep
