OBing the frontline happens to everyone?
Besides i was watching you spamming THINK MARK meme on the command announcements and i thought it’s soooooo cringe, you need to up your humor before applying to CO fr, all the best COs like bob cross and tank moore are funny
I’ll avoid cringe humor like that, haha. It’s in my nature, but I can work to up my humor.
Yeah, it’s a statistical certainty that you will OB the frontline at some point as CIC. Most of the time it’s not entirely your fault because the dumbass who lased the coords was bald, but then the question of why in god’s name you didn’t spend 5 seconds double checking gets asked. (This is why you should only get coords from trustworthy people, and always scrutinise coords from newbies).
Fact of the matter is, OBs that are guaranteed to not kill half the force require both the SO and spotter to be competent human beings. In CM, where the average marine’s intelligence rivals that of an amoeba, this is a rare occurrence.
Play enough CIC, and you WILL blow everyone up at some point. The only difference is how often you fuck up, which can range from ‘almost never’ to ‘probably intentionally griefing.’
I’m not gonna pile on with 700 examples but rather just keep it relatively brief.
You’ve got to chill out. Having played with you both in CIC and as xeno, you’re way too meta focused and not focused on having fun. Yeah we all like to win, but making announcements where you’re complaining about being ignored, saying things like “I JUST WANT TO SAVE YOU DO XYZ” and falling for the ACTIVE SHOOTER jokes at roundstart gets you ignored even more.
Don’t try to micro everyone else. This isn’t an RTS, people will ignore you for any or no reason, especially if you annoy them by insinuating they are doing something wrong before anything happens. This includes telling people how to do their jobs without them showing they clearly are new or have no idea.
Coupled with the above, in CIC especially, listen to whomever is in command. This isn’t just about firing OBs willy-nilly, but also giving significant orders on your own initiative that countermand what the CO/XO/whomever is doing. If you are the CO and expect everyone to listen to you, you should do the same when you are not.
And yeah you probably need a new character, because I’d say the reputation of your current one is quite poor due to, well, everything mentioned in the thread
You need to chill and develop a good reputation. Solidify your RP and command skills. It comes with time. Do not rush.
hey man this active shooter stuff isnt a joke they really do shoot me and set me on fire… there’s twin slimers out there… the almayer is dangerous
king von spotted at req line
Personally I find it a funny character quirk that Beatrice overreacts at everything.
Not every commander needs to be a milsim spec ops professional; especially if your the CO of the shitty Almayer, the worst ship of its class and last of the line. It should have shitty CO’s (not game throwing ones), like Beatrice setting Red Alert because a bunch of PFC’s and some SL’s chiming in troll her by saying there’s a m2c firing on the req line.
Thats memorable.
As for commanding, the CO whitelist seems to be heading towards a more RP focus, so they’d rather have mid commanders but good at RP than supreme commanders that are LRP / forgettable, so just apply and see what happens.
Didn’t read, but I have a friend in the WL. He says it gives him headaches sometimes, but its whatever if you like it
I think everything about you is fine. I’ve had you as my SO a good handful of times and unlike most SOs, you are responsive. I only know a handful of SOs that actually do their job and manage the more micro aspects of an operation with supply drops, call-outs for their squad and responding to OBs.
With that said, I haven’t played with you here recently since I’ve been busy with finals and playing on another server in SS13, I will say that you are a thoughtful person when it comes to your own mistakes. I just think that you let that weigh on your mind too much.
I was much like that when I JUST started playing XO. I would be super skittish with my marines since I would be afraid to lose any of them. Knowing that there is a player behind the screen that just got taken out of the round for at least 20+ minutes.
I know you have protentional to be a CO and I really want see you be one with this same motivation.
Also, as for your name (again) I think it’s fine and it fits. I’ve never known someone in the marine core, army, or air force to be given a nickname that wasn’t demeaning or making fun of them. Bomber makes perfect sense. I once has a guy named Twinkie after bringing 24 twinkies to a field training event.
I personally like the nickname. You got this.
i mean this with all the kindness i can muster, but if you’re asking this, you are probably a ways off it; at least 6 months but more like a year.
here’s my reasoning:
if you are prone to cross-examining everything you do now, honest mistakes on OBs, overthinking purchases to the point of failing to talk and just buying something because you feel Urgency Anxiety, and concern about your name, think about how those things will be elevated 1.) during the course of an application where you now invite everyone else to cross-examine you similarly, and 2.) when you’d actually be on that whitelist and people are cross-examining you every round you play.
i think you have the chops; like paladinthicc said, i watched you SL and you were dutiful if a little bit of a duckling after the CO. but good on orders and adapting and staying strong groundside in the face of danger. it’s the thickness of skin that you can grow in and that takes time. be kind and forgiving to yourself for your mistakes, pause before you speak not to think but just to be slower, and remember that you deserve to have fun while playing, whether that’s as CO or XO or SL. you don’t have to unlock everything to be a very good player if it’s going to make playing an intensely uncomfortable and anxious experience that you don’t enjoy. your heart is good, i know you’re trying to do good things.
Amy Sommer did it.
I appreciate all of your honest opinions.
I do understand the road to being a CO will take a long while, so I’m gonna hold off on appyling until I have plenty of experience with SL and XO.
Good take. Take all the time you need. It will all work out.
buddy you live in john wick universe, cm underworld will roll you
