This has been long time coming.
Yes, its official, I’ve burnout from this little spaceman 2D game and no longer find it fun. I am only writing this because I find myself familiar enough to the community and owe a letter to you lot. Frankly, I still think nobody actually cares if I go completely radiosilent or leave the game forever, but I wish to explain myself.
I’ve been going at it for practically 3 years. I’ve had been on CM for MONTHS straight in the past, from sunrise to sundown, and as such I burnout before as well. What kept me coming back quickly to no-life it again was the community and the absolute joy of triumph to share with others. Lately, though, many people that I found myself familiar with - left the game and the game itself got… stale. Life happens, I will not blame anyone for leaving, but I see the lack of that spark. The spark that kept this server thriving for quite a while is just… gone. The community grew with new players, but there were not nearly enough old players to balance it out. I found myself feeling negative emotions towards people, not quite a rarity but definitely too much to keep playing the game. I’ve already gotten into trouble once for something I thought appropriate.
You have probably noticed me missing most of the days already, if you play more than one round. Alas, it seems im burnout for a long while. Yes, this is not my final goodbye. I’ve had my many victories, had my glorious moments of kingmaking in an entire round by simply choosing one team and killing the other, and had plenty bitter loses that felt satisfying. This is a threat and a warning, I will return one day. In a year, maybe sooner, maybe later, I do not know. You may still see me occasionally for a round or two, say hi if you do, I am there probably to have nostalgia.
So hone your skills, prepare on both teams, for one day I will bring slaughter to the battlefield once more and you better be ready to become worthy enemies and great allies, like my retired fragger comrades. This also aimed at other primes and plats out there, start working harder now on!
Now the part people actually care about, THE LIST
There’s many people I’d like to mention, so this one will be quite long. If I forgot you, blame it on my inability to remember characters, not some personal animosity.
John Baldo Wheeler - My fellow survivor, the guy that got me into that role properly and, while now not in his peak, still a scary fellow to meet when I roll xeno. It has been great fun rolling with you and becoming part of frag montages.
Omsk Sergeyevich Morozov - Enigmatic man named after a city, still scary to fight unless it is a 1 versus 1. I might’ve hated you at some point, but that’s things of the past. I hope you manage to get your WL back.
Caden Thomas - Most chuddiest chud I’ve ever seen in my life, escaped the game before me somehow. Despite walking into the most obvious deathtraps, I would still entrust my back to you… Unless you have a shotgun.
Joe Dafoe - It has been said a thousand times, but you are probably the model CO and the ideal to look up to. It has been fun annihilating the hive, Major, glad you got that WL back.
Todd Winston - scariest survivor to meet, while also being one of the most funny ones. It has been fun slaughtering xenos together, even if it wasnt often. I am still running away if I see you with that MAR-50 tough.
Samson Jack - my friend, my enemy… You’re the only charlie I found truly memorable, it is why your Smartgun will always have a spot on the resin walls of my hives. If not me, the spiders will get you one day.
Steve Murphy - one of the few people I could call competent nearly always, as any role or in any situation. Hope you never escape CM and will be bound to this soul prison like the rest of us.
Isabel Lopits - perhaps the single person who influenced my desire to get addicted to this game as badly, one of the first few people to engage in funny little situations with me every once in a while. I dont regret the decision.
Biolock - THE best administrator on this server, quite frankly. Always positive, always helpful, always engaging with community. I hope you’re doing good on your retirement my friend.
Yellows - Best SL in terms of RP, it has always been quite fun doing alpha sidemissions and whatnot. On the other side one of the better Prime Empresses, perhaps the person that got me inspired to play queen myself.
Zenith - a great mapmaker, good developer and a decent fragger. Hopefully you make the game better while im gone.
Calum McDonald - great teammate, wonderful RP, funny deaths. It has been an honor to CIC and SL with you.
Viktor Kleiner - funny (former)CO that sends the entire marine into caves to flank the hive in Lambda from LZ2, despite people hating on you I always knew the round would either be a complete disaster or a swift victory.
Malcolm - Probably one of the two most memorable synthetics. It always has been fun surviving, RPing with you as human or xeno. Shame that sentinel saved the larva. Its not magic, its Malcolm!
Tito - TITO for Prime Empress 2025, anyone?..
Shout out to my FELLOW TRUE HIVE PATRIOTS: PSY, WAR, III, GRUG, BUG, XSO, ARG and many many others, it has been a blast destroying the marines together.
Also shout out to all Oldhead Survivors that dont play often or at all nowadays, I will see you in Survhalla.
Final shout out to the people in OOC that kept worrying when I didnt show up for a few days every now and then, I did not in fact die and come back just to play more CM.
