I said it as a joke and then they actually made a PR for it, so now that we’re here I feel like this would be a decent compromise; as it stands, CIC now feels more useless than ever, and marine cohesion was next to impossible to maintain BEFORE the announcement nerf. I’d hope something like this could at least remedy one of those issues.

I do like the idea that the ARC clears up announcement garble though. Nowadays, ARC is just a last resort effort to hold siege and this would make it more useful to command.

Having the ARC work as a way to clear comms would be neat. Logically, it is fitted with the appropriate equipment to both receive a communication from the ship and relay it locally to the troops in the field, and it’d make sense from the perspective of it being a field command asset. Maybe makes it more of a meta pick, but it also is more interesting than just buying more budget or marines so whatever.
The command tablet feels a lil more easily achievable since you could just send someone down with it and a command tent at the start of an op and then tell them what to broadcast via the telephone, but that still has fair drawbacks since it requires risking the tablet and involves an extra level of delay you wouldn’t have using it yourself.
Either way, not being perpetually oppressed by the garble and unable to coordinate at all would be nice. Lacking radio comms is enough of a punishment for not holding a comms tower as is.

if it’s any consolation this has also inadvertently killed my CIC career, which is a huge buff to marines. Maybe even enough to counter the garble nerf. The only fun thing about CIC was larping as a queen without any of the responsibility by spamming command announcements. And they’ve taken that away. Im the Captain of a ship in a video game I ain’t here to fill out fucking PUNCH CARDS

The garble is just because one of the Devs got noted for not following orders so they made it so they can’t hear the orders to begin with.
