I finished a round on ice just now where I cornered a lone survivor, had them dead to rights, tackled them even when they had a flamer, and they got up before I could either haul them or tackle them again. I get that infinite tackle is annoying as shit, but a lurker who knows what they are doing should have no problem tackling and quickly hauling a lone host back to the hive.
I mean if the literal stealth ambush specialist can’t do it, who should be able to? Solo capping is impossible as long as you have literally one teammate.
Edit: to avoid infinite tackling being a concern, let lurkers haul hosts that have been hit by crippling strike twice as fast so they still have to be quick about it
getting swiftly capped and round-removed by an invisible enemy that can immediately down you does not sound fun in the slightest, not even for the xeno
The issue is that the lurker stun guarantees you 3 free disarms (used to be 4 with crippling strike). Maybe if lurker pounce forced you to slash so you couldn’t use the free hits to get the tackle to proc lowering the tackle rate could maybe work.
Lurker can solocap, it’s just completely RNG if you get two-three taps to tackle or all 7. Guaranteeing lurker can tackle on pounces would make this caste utterly broken and considering we have 1.5 burst already - we dont need xenos being able to capture better. Plus we already have runners that can cap anyone who doesnt have a gun that has high burst-fire damage.
Source? Prime lurker myself, one round I had to tackle a guy without a gun for 5 MINUTES STRAIGHT to capture him. The next round I got 4 two-taps in a row on a marine(who then told me how bullshit that was in LOOC, with which I agree LOL) and basically won the game with that. LURKER DOES NOT NEED A BUFF, PLEASE.
I feel like people misunderstand what im saying: I dont want to guarantee anything, just make it reasonably possible to solo cap. If you’re going to invest in a specialist caste all about ambushing lone marines and survivors, being able to contribute to your team by capturing them instead of just giving the medics more work seems reasonable.
You still have to…y’know get the actual tackle and in a place where you wont die, as I said before solo capping is essentially impossible if they have even one friend, if you are traveling somewhere outside of cades without at least ONE person in line of sight, that is a skill issue, not a “lurker op” issue, same as if it had been a warrior
Runner solocap is already a cancerous experience for the other player. And that is what it really comes down to. What you are suggesting takes fun away from someone else so you can have more of it, and that does not help the game.
It is already possible. You have like 35% to devour someone from a pounce. Which is not very viable (if they have a shotgun, the risk of getting shot is too high), but it is possible.
i’m pretty split on playtime but my opinion of lurker comes only from playing it. I just find it to be boring and encouraging shit gameplay is something that is not needed for the server.
ALSO dragging on lurker is busted and having the tackle have any change than it has now would make this style of play more encouraged.
I think the only way to make lurker able to cap without it being super RNG based like it is currently, is to up the tackle range massively but buff the tackle stun duration in exchange. Like if it had something like 6-7 tackle range and 4-5 stun duration or whatever’s needed to guarantee a haul off a tackle. You’d get a few tackles for free off pounce but then you’d still have to keep tackling them once they stand up, but if you can manage to tackle them enough you can cap off it.
Currently it’s in a weird place where the best way to cap is to do it directly off pounce and pray for a 2 tap (35% chance). The reason other methods don’t work is because the tackle stun duration is too low that you can’t haul off it without getting really lucky, the marine will just stand up. I think this is more frustrating for both sides when lurkers actually go for it, which they usually don’t since it’s more fun to just kill. It’s frustrating for marines to get capped instantly off pounce, and it’s frustrating for lurker to pray for RNG to let them cap.
However on the other hand I actually sort of like how it is currently because it forces team work. Currently as a lurker you shouldn’t be solo capping, if you want to cap you should get a runner with you. Runner tackles are so much better and can cap off a lurker pounce 100% of the time. I think teamwork like this is fun. That said if someone implemented what I said earlier to allow lurker to cap I wouldn’t really complain as long as the tackle range is high enough that it’s difficult for them to solo cap.
there were six xenos on, and I was the only lurker (we had a runner, but I didnt know if I could rely on them as the last two runners suicide charged survs)
