My only issue with lurkers is that their pounces seem to be a quaranteed 1-2 fractures literally every time.
They have to learn the hard Way?
I am fine with lurker dunking on solo marines, but the pounce drag tech is kinda insane (another cope post about BUT).
Kinda your fault bro, just walking alone, no one near you and you could even be capped. Be glad that you got murdered.
This is frankly insane, was there some recent change to movement code or something? I’ll see if I can re-create this on local, any clue what the testmerged are right now?
Also for the clip itself someone needs to report BUT for griefing… resin trap right there.
The only reason it looks fast is because people only see warriors dragging people while slashing them. And coincidentaly, they have a massive slowdown while doing so. Litterary every caste thats the same speed as lurker can do the same thing to marines, as long as they stun them (looking at you senti).
I just booted up local, got five attempts, looking at them now, in my favorite video editor, Blender.
In the video posted by @Cark, he is pounced at 3.36 seconds in, he is grabbed at 4.36 or 4.4 seconds in, he gets moved 6-7 tiles until the video ends at 8.06 seconds.
Time between pounce & grab is 1 to 1.04 seconds, and he gets moved 6-7 tiles in 3.6 seconds, so 1.66 to 1.94 tiles per second.
In the video posted by @osmos, he is pounced at 6.03 seconds, he is grabbed at 7.4 seconds, he gets moved 5 (could have been more) tiles until he stands up at 11.03 seconds.
Time between pounce & grab is 1.37 seconds (there was a slash that wasn’t in Cark’s video), and he gets moved 5 tiles in 3.63 seconds. 1.37 tiles per second.
Here are my attempts:
1: Pounce to slash is 0.36 seconds, pounce to grab is 1.86 seconds, 6 tiles moved in 2.77 seconds. 2.16 tiles per second.
2: No slash, pounce to grab is 0.43 seconds, 6 tiles moved in 4.13 seconds. 1.45 tiles per second.
3: Pounce to slash is 0.33 seconds, pounce to grab is 1.67 seconds, 6 tiles moved in 2.83 seconds. 2.12 tiles per second.
4: Pounce to slash is 0.44 seconds, pounce to grab is 2.24 seconds, 5 tiles moved in 2.33 seconds. 2.14 tiles per second.
^ Here I missed the grab and walked a tile without the marine, then went back to get him and then finally grabbed him.
5: Pounce to slash is 0.37 seconds, pounce to grab is 1.87 seconds, 5 tiles moved in 2.76 seconds. 1.81 tiles per second.
You can grab instantly after pouncing, but due to the pounce there’s a long while where you’re unable to move (slashing skips this).
This is why there’s more time with the no slash grab, which makes it a bit slower.
The Videos
Here they are… hopefully.

Please ignore the sprites & sound (if I misclick it plays the tank/APC horn), .rsc crapped itself.
since apparently everyone is trying to dissect the lurker videos i will clarify:
there is a lurker tech i used in the second video where you slash, cs, grab, move. slash to remove root, cs to reset attack delay, grab(obviously) to start moving. i usually move right before the grab so im still adjacent but dont have the movement delay for thats
there is no delay on any of these and can be done as fast as you can action it. frankly my attempt in osmos’ video was pretty slow, i usually do it much quicker.
Lurker has always been a slime caste. It’s specifically designed to win 1v1s no matter the skill gap between the Lurker and victim.
People posted the pounce drag thing above, but here’s a few other fun interactions:
- Slash into crippling slash in the same tick has an exceedingly high chance of amputation. I think it’s a quirk of SS13 damage calculations, but whatever it is, Lurker is the Tarantino right foot remover of CM. Ravager doesn’t come close
- Ever since tail stab was added, Lurker will win any 1v1 and shatter at least two bones in the process. Pounce → slash → crippling strike slash → slash → tail stab → [dude gets up] → tail stab. EOD armour or B12 doesn’t make a difference. Some particular slimers will automate half this process whilst dragging you to Brazil.
- There’s a decent chance of capping directly from pounce. It won’t happen the majority of the time, but if it’s an M41 backpack PVT it’s worth going for
I don’t think Lurker is healthy for the game, since its worst victims are usually new players. The pounce drag interaction especially should be nerfed, but people like to say “y u lone” as new players are mogged in an 18s cutscene after wandering 5 tiles away from other marines. ![]()
Its a mechanical insentive to not stray too far away from a group. Don’t go alone, otherwise you get mauled by a stray xeno. Litterary just having a buddy makes getting mauled by a lurker chance go from 90%, to like 10%.
And for decapping and limb removal. I still have more of those as an elder rav than I have as a prime lurker. Don’t know how that works.
I avoid bald privates if I can tell they’re bald. And i never cap cause it always goes wrong. Honestly more often my victims are wannabe fraggers that run around alone with nvs and get reality checked hard
The basic combo for lurker is usually enough to put someone in crit after several seconds, if youre aiming foot and they’re not drugged up. To actually kill someone in a 1v1 there is a window where you need to get like 2-5 slashes in while they’re standing and shooting, or you can back off and let them crit. In either case if they have a battle buddy they will usually get out okay.
Worst case you die and cic calls it out and you’re recovered well before 5 mins. I can probably count on one hand the number of meaningful backline kills that actually had game impact in the sense that nobody came to recover them. That is also an important difference to note: yes obviously a t2 is stronger than a lone marine, you should not be complaining about dying in a 1v1 to a t2. Especially when you can be revived 7 times before heartbreak, while the op enemy you’re fighting is 2 PBs or 1 good flame away from being round removed
Admittedly groups of 2 can be take by one lurker if the skill difference is high enough. Groups of 3-4 are more optimal
As for pounce dragging, I’ve only ever seen BUT do it, but following this cope post I started seeing more people try it, myself included. Although honestly this is a meme, getting dragged a few tiles is the least of your worries unless you’re on the front. I feel like its more just style points than any major impact. Try getting lurkerpounced into instant runnerdrag to Brazil, now THAT is slime
This.
My guess is this is not intended. CS is supposed to force slash, but I guess you can circumvent it with ctrl+click instead of clicking on grab intent?
Unsure, pretty sure original PR was to only force slash on disarm, especially since you can cs for a double help intent(i’ve done this on accident too many times)
No you can’t. You cannot double pat. Double disarm was the main concern, but the intent behind the change was to make lurkers use CS only for attacking, not to reset the delay for other actions.
It’s called Crippling Strike not Crippling Grab ![]()
even without CS you can do it pretty fast and it does move pretty far so this might need to be nerfed (as everything always is)
This is kind of just warrior lunge cap: knockoff edition
you can double pat and double caress
humans? no
I got another vod (Jan 2025) where BUT executes the tech quicker than the previous post.
This is a great example of why you never see lurkers do this, cause even with all those marines Kanye staring for half of the stun BUT still got lit the fuck up atthe end. Most of the time if you try this you will get PBd or shot instantly, and unlike a warrior you have 0 armor, don’t heal from slashing, and don’t have punch or fling to quickly stop dragging.
It’s extremely risky even if you’re super skilled, BUT just built different like that
This is all MD reliant behavior. Just be faster
lurkers are likely one of the weaker xenos in that all you need is one buddy. If that Lurker has a Lurker buddy. Bad news you need one more buddy. If you are 5 tiles from anyone alone just be on look out. Lurkers lurking lurkers ya know. Stop lurking as a marine is what I mean ![]()
