new Extended gamemode variant: Survivors only

Have a new extended gamemode variant that only allows players to choose survivors (human,synth,co), being able to pick their variants and then spawn on the colony roundstart.

Gives admins an easier time to set up groundside only events (that wouldn’t fit other gamemodes) involving colonists and allows players to have their own characters and roles that they can choose from the beginning.

I do think at some point natural progression needs to include alternative- fully functioning game modes. Even if the default is distress signal a fairly common occurrence of HvH or survival would be a nice change.

Personally one thing I really don’t like about HvH is that humans aren’t distinguishable enough. You go from every human in in mottled colors being friendly to some being hostile.

I think they are decently distinguishable but you do need to look properly.

Surv only mode would be useful.

Forest has a PR up to allow event runners to allow people to spawn as free-mobs but to keep their custom character instead of being forced into a randomly generated character: Event Mob Spawning by realforest2001 · Pull Request #10403 · cmss13-devs/cmss13

At the very least this PR should go a long way to help for these uncommon events.

Is there any further news on HvH dev sterling? Haven’t heard much lately.

(Sterling is auto correct steelpoint but frankly I find it funny, so sterling you are.)

Eh thats nice but still a bit restrictive on the player side (hard to know what role you get from free-mobs)

Also I only made this thread cause I tried and failed coding this :sob: (runtimes and they kept spawning on the ship instead of on the colony)
