New Medic Playstyle concept: Chemical Splasher (Getting removed soon because got caught in the crossfire)

Update on the availability of the loadout:

A PR about nerfing janitorial buckets suddenly popped up, so within like 3-5 days this playstyle will no longer be available. Maybe I should’ve shut the fuck up because people dont like niche shit in this server. I like sharing good and niche stuff about games, but really taking this far just to remove a niche guy’s niche playstyle. It also indirectly nerfs the production speed of chen-based departments.

So it appears that this playstyle’s removal really did get into the crossfire of the Medical Rework. But I am baffled that after like after 12-2 days of this post going up, ONLY THEN the PR got up. This is not a “coincidence? I think not!”, situation but it sure feels like it, I agree. But guys, dont dogpile on the PR. Sure it’ll hurt the “janibucket is the meta for chem beaker mixing” culture of chem-based departments, but do make sure your arguments aren’t just pouring salt. Though I cannot say about the negative effects on the chem-based departments. My perspective on the PR? Basically another guy’s “jani bucket and hicap beaker sprites gets swapped, hicap gets more expensive because roleplay is king”.

Sooo uhhh when I was playing mini medic rifleman, I realized how much of a change in gameplay you can do by splashing chems on people instead of just feeding them normally.

image

Despite losing 50% of the original chems in the beaker/vial, it’s pretty handy at instead of waiting for 15 units, which also most of the time over-heals over the actual damage, you’ll just start healing without delay. Splash a marine and head your way.

This does mean you’re required to be good at sprite-clicking.

“Oh what about injectors.” They don’t hold 500 units like this playstyle does. I never burned through 50% of my buckets in a round honestly.

And also, usually each pill bottle carries 16 x 15 pills of the standard issued chems. So 240 units. Each bucket is technically 2 pill bottles worth of chems!!! AND you only use 10 to heal 25 brute (50% of the 10 because splash is nerfed)

So you basically have 50 pills in your bucket vs the 32 pills. You are less often over-healing, which means less wasted chems!

“The extra X chem from the 15-unit pills are basically premedding.” Sucks to have a perspective of meta huh? This aims to be efficient by only healing what’s required, not premed you. You wanna pre-med and get tackle-capped because you’re healing? Of course not.

“The flasks.” This playstyle aims to immediately apply the healing effect, not “here comes the choo choo train- chokes on chem” Typa shi.

“The injectors". My face when 500 unit beaker + vial for splashing vs 4 x 45 = 180 unit injectors. BUDDY INJECTORS ARE NOT WINNING VIA CAPACITY.

“The pill bottles.” 2 small sized items vs 1 normal sized item, you have another space for a tiny item. Put 5 buckets in a bag, you have a space for health anaylzer AND the beaker you’re gonna use. That normal-sized item carries 20 units more than your 2 pill bottles.

“But you have to sacrifice a bag slot/carry a bag on one hand.” Then dont use this playstyle. It’s that easy.

“I wanna try this loadout, but I’m having a hard time trying to actually use it.” One thing this playstyle requires is that you have good muscle memory on switching between bags, precise clicking between sprites… actually any dexterity-skill is required for this.

Thank you for listen to my yappathon of a rant about “Splashing chems on people is actually viable)

you really do have a knack of finding the lamest things to make a playstyle with

I have a knack of turning lamest shit into something that no one touches.

There are cons of this playstyle that would drive most people away:

20-30 minute prep time, likely you’re missing first drop.

Tedious preparation overall.

Sprite clicking, because everyone moves around so much whike tryingg to get treated.

You have to get buckets, which is 50k metal points in lathes.

Why not just get a custom autoinjector reagent pouch and just have buckets of unga+ to refill with

Isn’t that just this but faster and more effective?

I love it, we need more bizarre and funny set ups out there, this might be just when I need to go back to playing a few rounds.

*Sighs.

Who the hell wants to be that guy that steals 75% of the unga. You’re making your self look funny. Dont touch the non-medical force’s self-sufficient chem mix. You literally got free chems from vendors. Dont take the well energy-spent unga mix just to spend 25% of it on your self (fragger medics oh my god but also oh wowzer) and 75% to the rest of whatever meat you stab it in that probably only has a paper cut. Please dont tell me to carry buckets of unga, because that’s called hogging the drugs that make marines run and shoot. And lastly, becoming a centralized unga-injector robot is not fun, neither for the marines that didnt get their own unga juice because of someone taking all the unga in order to “equally and better distribute it”.

(rant over, sorry if it looked stupid or have offended you)

You dont wanna be wasting the kelotane in the mix because your patient only need brute healing. Vice versa to burn damage.

Why not, instead of ~75 of each chem, have 500 units of the standard issued chems? You’ll run out of unga much much faster eitherway because you’re using a cure-all, so why not carry ALOT of each commonly used chem?

And dont fight me over with the kits and gauzes and the oint-of-a-ments. We’re talking about the delivery of chemicals to patients.

It would’ve been great if “someone” wasn’t taking almost entire reagent tank and breaking into the medical storage all the time…

While it is very cheeky, we love cheeky stuffs. Maybe balance would be nice where you can’t apply effect with the splash when someone’s wearing armor, though. (Aim the head while telling peoples to take off helm for quicker apply)
Least you don’t OD 15 u but only 10 or less even if you overlap the treatment, so that’s good

You could enhance this by using space cleaner sprays. Same deal you lose half of chems but I think delivery is more convenient as you don’t have to measure chems to a separate bottle and then splash.

Also, I realized you can insta OD anybody splashing them  Would you like a 250u OD of oxy? Splash

Why is it that every single strat you come up with, a dev patches it out with something completely unrelated?

Except any speed advantages of this are negated by the fact you have to, yaknow, scan the person beforehand to make sure you dont OD them.

And the extra capacity is negated by john rifle moveing st the last second so you miss 50% of your splashes.

I can’t wait to see a FF OB over the entire frontline, and xeno giggling until they see the gigantic cloud of super stim instead of a explosion. All they can hear is *warcry x24

Doesn’t even come close to cracking the top 10 most annoying/abusive mechanics or playstyles that exist in the game. What a crummy attitude to have towards someone just trying to find fun niches.

You should totally post this in #cm-screenshots.

I dont like 90% of meta strats or playstyles, this fully defines all of my doings in the past 6 months.

Man, @BasilHerb is the guy stealing 75% of unga tank with his 2 M-M pouches SG build.

Possible PRs to do:

  • Fixing HG internal mag
  • Fixing MDs
  • Refactoring ID access levels for greater flexibility on the ID console
  • Removing fire delay and replacing it with something less cancerous (imagine not being able to shoot properly in a xeno shooting game)
  • Adding plastic to ASRS menu
  • Fixing the fact that the ASO ID doesn’t lets him do basic MT tasks (they can’t modify door access levels despite the fact that the ASO is the boss of the CE)
  • Balance tweaks to the MP7 and the FN FP9000 so they are no longer as ass as they currently are.
  • Among many others!

And yet we get a fucking PR to remove a goofy funny gimmick. Real shit.
