If you can’t wield the vent what is stopping someone from just unwrenching a pipe that connects the vent to the entire vent system?
You can easily prevent larva escapes, it only takes someone to actually do things to prevent it.

This is a bit of an issue that CM shares to an extent with SS13. Neither of these games place balance as the absolute end all of game design. Somethings are only still in the game because despite being very strong, are not abused to high heaven. As an example, I abused the ever loving hell out of booze machines having infinite bottles to the point that they nerfed them so the xenos could actually siege the LZ without having to deal with 150-300 molotovs being tossed at them. Frankly, if everyone went turbo ham every round, I don’t think the game would be much fun.

Kind of feels like makeing the vents un weldable is punishing players for using their brain. Also giving them a debuff for welding also feels like punishing them for using their brain.

Here’s my solution: Remove blockers such as the fire alarm in medbay completely, allowing the larva to escape through the door.
Force all shipside MPs to be around medbay permanently, unless they need to handle CLF, and jail an MP for manslaughter for every shipside burst without chance of an appeal. If bursts start happening and all MPs but CMP are in jail - feed them all to the maints xenos in a sacrificial ritual to appease the prime hive.
If there’s no MPs\only CMP is present - admins may spawn themselves in as working joes with machineguns and gun down the larva, the doctors, and the patients.
In all seriousness, medical should be able to have guns in ORs on blue and every time there’s a larva patient coming in - CIC should raise level to blue until waves of hugged marines cease. This honestly never was an issue cause most xenos fumble instead of escaping the operating room, only larva you ever see truly escape is marine mains\prime xenos. I also do believe in the first point I made at the start, but only removing fire alarms in ORs, so the larva has space to hide inside the bigger room. This way you have both teams having fun, cause doctors playing hide and seek with larva is probably the most fun they will have in the round.

i literally stopped using vents after map makers started putting premade tunnels on roundstart.
TBH i still dont agree with it. Kinda kills the point of someone actually going burrower and making tunnels.
IDK when was the last time i used a vent at all especially as a runner when tunnels are a more straightforward solution
(no one really destroys those premade tunnels 100% of the time)

Fun fact you can carry a pistol on green at round start. I do it all the time and have never gotten arrested.
As long as you only pull it out when it’s needed the MP’s won’t care. Even if you activly tell people it’s unlikely the MP’s will care. Since the type 73 pistol does 71 damage per shot it’s a solid choice for self defence. I once got put a ravager into crit with a single mag. Granted I died and a runner saved the rav but still it was cool.

It was implied before you couldn’t do it, and now you can potentially questionably do it. Imagine: “who cares if you can legally take CO’s gun with incend ammo and go groundside with it, it wasn’t a problem before, send this to acid goop.” But if someone did it and admins ruled that as fine, wouldnt you have the same reaction as this post? I got doctor’s delight banned before, if you want to acid goop this then let me show you ingame why this is a problem too.
edit: My war on combat synths actually has shown progress. Some of my previously denied posts would be approved now according to their new rules. Say what you want on that too, but progress has been made.

denied/ignored ahelps are not rules, you are right.
Notes and bans are rulings. Let’s say you get noted for welding vents. Either you are actually allowed to weld the vents, in which case your note gets reversed, or you are not allowed to weld vents, in which case others would get notes too as it would be unjust for only one person to be not allowed to do an action.
Every synth report I made I truly thought was against the rules, which all but 1 turns out it wasn’t. But still drove discussion and changes like no longer able to solo backline, or not being able to use CLF3 spray so it was fine in the end. Those reports too affect everybody too. If at that point some other synth was solo backlining pylons, you can point to those reports and say see? it’s allowed.
