I have been permanently banned for LRP along with my past, and honestly extensive list of notes that I’ve gotten in my years playing CM. The round in question, I was playing as a Staff Officer. This was my second round ever playing as an SO; in the past couple of months, I have been branching out and trying different roles. I.e., Nurse, Corpsman, I played Squad Leader to get my time needed to then move on and play as a staff officer.
I read several guides, same as I did for Corpsman and Squad leader, so that I could provide the best experience for others that may suffer if someone in a position such as Corpsman, Nurse, Squad Leader, Staff Officer, doesn’t know what they’re doing. I tried to be as prepared as possible.
I want to explain something, I have no ill-will towards the person that banned me and am also not angry, I’m just honestly heart broken. My character’s name is Ardy ‘Ape Man’ Guy. Ardy is a character that I’ve struggled to really develop in the past, because the avenue I took with him was “big dumb ape guy” which, if you check my note history, as the admin I am sure did when he banned me, you’ll see that playing as this character has gotten me in trouble because I just wasn’t doing enough, and I was breaking the rules by playing as a marine that is mentally incompetent and obviously not fit to serve in the marines. In the ban note, it explains that they’re worried I’ve fallen back on old bad habits. Please understand that I am fully cognizant of the things I did in the past that got me banned and I stand by my previous appeal that those things will never happen again.
Back in April I appealed a perma ban that happened about 2 years ago, and I was let back on the server. I’m seriously trying to develop my character into something that provides fun and memories to my squad, Delta, and other people that Ardy interacts with. He has changed from “big dumb ape guy” to someone that is obnoxious, sure, but who is also a capable marine, a nice person, albeit a little abrasive, and someone who is loyal to the Corps.
I brought his Delta, loud, abrasive attitude to my SO role so that I could try and inspire, lead, and galvanize Delta squad to success. I understand that Ardy’s attitude may not have a place in the higher leadership structure. It’s possible that Ardy, who he is at his core and as a character, is not cut out for senior officer positions. That is something for me to accept, and another piece that really helps give Ardy his identity in the corps. I am cognizant of the rules, I have had infractions, but I absolutely do not want to get banned from CM, I don’t want to ruin anyone else’s experience or hinder their own development for their own awesome characters in this awesome world, like Grace the Synth who gave her cat a rock to play with and that Ardy always asks about, or Alyssa Bennet the nurse that tells Ardy that Unga juice is banned every time they see each other, and also whom Ardy calls “Ashoes” because of an old, funny interaction that he had with Alyssa. Or Monica Mayo, whom Ardy deeply respects and has bridged Ardy’s relationship in Charlie squad and has given him a new perspective on the fact that there are highly competent individuals in other squads.
What I’m saying is that I have really striven to evolve this character so that he fits the rules of the server, offers meaningful, fun, engaging roleplay, and who is a friend to the Corps and loyal to what the Corps stands for. I understand how my actions could have warranted a job ban, or even a week/month, etc long ban, but I have been permanently banned for this. I can’t try to appeal this until April of next year, and CM-SS13 is so important to me. It has truly been my escape, and I do not want to contribute to an environment in a way that diminishes the experience for others, wastes their time, or that leads to any negative connotations. I want to be a part of this community. I am a part of it! I know the rules, I understand that Ardy, and me, is obviously not capable of the higher leadership positions that exist within the server. However, I want to emphasize the work that I’ve put in really developing my character, and the differences between what occurred last night, and what occurred in the past that got me permanently banned before. This is not an appeal. I just want to make sure I articulate, accurately, how I understand that what caused my ban could have been construed as the same type of situations that have happened in the past, but that they were anything but. I am not falling back on bad habits, and I truly don’t believe that I deserve to be permanently banned for this. I accept full responsibility, but the consequences that have been imposed on me are severe.
I feel like if Ardy was a bad SO, or displayed conduct unbecoming of an SO, this would have been the perfect change for emergent game play, allowing a character or characters to evolve even more, demoting Ardy, making sure he is never an SO again, etc etc. I did nothing maliciously and I just wish someone would have spoken to me before immediately noting my admin note history and banning me permanently. That’s not right. I have truly attempted to put that note history behind me so that I could move forward and regain my credibility in CM.
