Vampire is one of those “good players use it amazing”. Since the only time we ever see a lurker get top frags or whatever, is when OWL use it, and he is essentially the only one who uses it fairly well while being supported by meta friend drones and such.
It’s like going against specs who know what they are doing. A good SADAR, pyro, scout or demo has nigh on no counter play, and can solo a quarter of the hive while always having back up cuz meta friends.
Neither Ravagers nor Warriors can feasibly sustain themselves off weeds in the marine backline for any real amount of time without dying. Also Ravagers are a tier 3.
You are comparing a tier 2 caste that any xeno player can choose to go with 100% reliability to a specialist role that only exists once (occassionally twice) during an entire round and that can also be permanently removed from the round without the ability for them to respawn or for someone to fill their role.
Vampire is a skillgap roll, the same as spec. Where if you get someone really good at it, they might decide the game with only one person. Thats the only comparison I made. But it is true, that spec is limited to 4 randos every time, and vampire is occupied by 1 amazing dude, and 90% mid to bad players (they all saw OWL do it, so they try to play it and die instantly or do nothing the entire game).
Edit: Specs can still be usefull while being used by complete randoms, but with vampire you HAVE to have that 1-3 people who can actually use the caste that day, otherwise you won’t see anything positive from it.
Edit edit: It kinda reminds me of all the normal lurker cope threads, which was all about BOO rocking their shit. But when BOO left, there was a staggring amount of cope gone about lurker(It also got nerfed a ton, to the point only a few people play it above vamp).
my 2 cents on the matter is that Vamps cooldowns are too short on the rush, by the time a Vamp is done pushing in the ungas soft spot on their heads. The rush cooldown is done, allowing them to flee.
THAT is really what i find is the biggest issue its that they can rush in than rush out before the take too much damage.
at lest for rooonys they yes got a stun lock jumb but they also get killed in one PB buck.
I’ve single-handedly stalled sieges, invalidated Queen charges, and prevented front collapses as Pyro. Haven’t seen 14 Xeno threads complaining about Pyro.
I’m actually used to Xenos being the more salty group. I don’t understand what it is about Vamp that is making them so upset.
thats because 70% or more of the playerbase are marine enjoyers, with the 30% being xenoes who already accepts at this point that everything is bullshit.
difference is you can have more than one vamp lurker, can only have one pyro, and its easy to use even if people say otherwise. speaking of this we decimated backlines first drop with 8 vamp lurkers before, there was no counter to that, almost pitied them the round
and yeah first time playing vamp lurker I think I broke some 20 peoples groin (really armored spot if I recall)
and killed 8 people, due to how easy it is to avoid bullets and heal
will continue playing vamp lurker to figure more stuff, but people always complained about it, its only now that it is popular enough for everyone to complain about
Is this just a case of the Vampire getting a lot of attention because it is able to fight and engage in environments that most other Xenos can not do safely or as effectively?
vamp lurker is a horribly designed caste and goes against a lot of the fundamentals of xeno.
Its a fun caste- but its a caste that is not for this game
