just remove guns, make i smaller, allow marines to move under it when crawling, reduce health and make it blow up upon death and delete itself and anyone in it. along with removing the operating table from med apc, we can yoink the med interior from the PVE movie med apc.

Personally, i think the APC is very reasonable in terms of like, game mechanics/world building but its kinda balanced to shit, heres how id go about it.
First off, APC always spawns, APC driver with a side person to go along with them, main driver gets to pick the available configuration: Transport, Medical, Command.
The main issue i see with the APC from xeno-side is that it is extremely uninteractive, this used to not be the case when it was able to frontline and block (still not good balance wise, but atleast it did something), but now its mostly just driving turret, backliners cant approach it, it cant frontline itself so it just ends up being a weird thing driving in no-mans land and not really doing much as the configurations kinda stink which kinda got it sidelined.
- Remove the auto-turrets from it, shooting has to be done manually
- Force the doors to always be open and the APC enterable
- Make the mortar useful in the APC somehow, either add it as a standalone configuration, or preferably throw it into the Transport config, since its kinda shit anywho
- Make the APCs parts targetable with specific limbs, aiming legs hits treads, head the turret, etc.
Driving away from any fight with the APC is just too easy, and you can basically AFK in it since the auto-turrets and PFCs around you deter anything thats not a decent xeno charge with weeds from doing real damage to you.
APC as it used to be just ended up dying inside of the FOB, plugging some random hole or getting stuck on a cade/wall or getting run down as queen was moving to the FOB.
With some changes to force the players inside to keep it guarded, and with it being alot more vulnerable to backliners there is a bigger risk/reward to sitting at the front and providing medical/command support, it should also force more interactions onto the drivers, in that being too agro with your placement might see a rav walk out and slash your treads to shit, or a lurker beating your turret until it cant shoot.
There is also the slightly insane choice of having the APC/tank completely replace CAS (GP would be taking over as driver in that case) with it being balanced accordingly.
