reason's that you should play TGMC

Stuff like energy weapons , can’t be called super high tech or stuff such as the “new” optics that were made by Morrow or the new tac map that all marines can see, i can already take that as big step up on the technlogy level of the marines but still we lack some more cooler stuff, it would not hurt to get a SPEC with energy guns or even some mech stuff for events.
Just like in the idea of the marines not needing to depend on communication planet side and actually bring their own communication, the game still has some silly stuff that don’t makes sense for the level of technology the marines have.

The SGs have eyepieces in the movies, and while they’re somewhat bulkier CM takes place 3 years later and the Almayer is issued a LOT of experimental equipment.
(This also isn’t too far off stuff we have today)

What kind of energy gun? This is a very, very broad idea. The closest (man portable one) we have from my main source (the technical manual) is the PIG (Phased-plasma Infantry Gun), which gameplay wise would be a fancy schmancy recoilless rifle, a role SADAR already fills.

Lasers do exist in this universe, though, last I checked there’s already a laser pistol on NV (not one the USCM uses, mind), one of our CAS weapons is a laser, and the Sulaco (and presumably the rest of the Conestoga class) is also noted as having laser arrays and a particle beam in the technical manual.

Devs have stated several times that mechs are never happening.

You seem a lot more concerned with “cool stuff” than sticking with the game’s aesthetic and universe.

One of the reason TGMC doesn’t feel as immersive as CM is that it looks like a bunch of randoms added every weapon that sounded cool, complety ignoring stuff like lore or believable equipment or anything. They literally have “harvester” spears and katanas in their vendors, together with an exoskeleton that looks like HALO spartan armour but does nothing new gameplay-wise, and an exoskeleton that is exactly the same as the HALO one gameplay-wise but doesn’t look like spartan armour. And about the “marines should be able to use comms without having to care about comms”, CM shouldn’t become “rush enemy, rush new enemy position, rush the third enemy position and if you die, insta respawn” without any alternatives or other things that need to be done.

Cool stuff bring enjoyment to the playerbase is that not why everyone tries to roll for spec and pick scout since he got alot of “cool stuff”, but the CM has problem that is that sometimes forcing the “immersion” too much makes the game boring, one of these examples are the COs not being able to do different gimmicks because of “immersion”, it being enforced overall is good but if it is enforced to the extreme that you can’t do fun stuff it simply sucks ,since at the end are we not here to have fun?
I believe that the freedom TGMC gives in some areas makes the game more fun but at the same time the lack of any type of RP or even abit of immersions reduces that fun

At the end TGMC nor CM are perfect games and both need to improve in some areas, but i think that each game could learn from eachother

I watched Elsa’s tgmc videos and the gun vs gun experience is awesome. The weapon sprites look strange, like they’re so long and have only dark colors, but the sounds are beautiful.

Joined tgmc once, grabbed the weak spear, put on basic armor, run at queen and click her til she dies.
Yeah no, i’ve solo’d queens on CM and it feels like an achievement to beat her nonstop stun spam, on TGMC your up in minutes and so tanky you just beat her down. Don’t enjoy it myself.

TGMC does not work for me.

TGMC code look and is better in most areas… ours look like **** in a lot of areas…
Can’t really compare TGMC and CM since they don’t really fight in the same category …
TGMC is way more action driven with some strategy to gain resources…
CM as RP standard that are pretty high…(don’t listen to RP gangs).
in my opinion we should split server in two on CM when we going over 140-160 to keep (performance, ambiance, way easier to balance etc…
also would make it that we have way more players overhaul…
will never be done because it’s to risky and will cost to much time to implement if you want to make for example a matching system to play with your friends…

Guns that do damage - check
No TDM “MRP” mods breathing down your neck - check
Any weapon you want regardless of caste/class - check
Wait, why do I still play CM?

Imagine calling a game’s RP standard pretty high if even RP roles (CL) go “XO gonna deploy cause wanna see fight going” and get seen running around shooting benos five minutes later.

Correct me if i’m wrong, but I THINK the reason why devs dont want to add laser guns or mechs into the game is because the devs want to give CM a “Vietnam war vibe” and after all, they didnt have plasma cannons or mechs in Vietnam, so why should CM have it? It would ruin the aesthetic.

One big point that CM should learn from TGMC is the game being more “futuristic”

alien/aliens aesthetic is something like retrofuturistic cassettepunk + vietnam era american culture

I wouldn’t say it shouldn’t be more futuristic, but the futurism in the game has constraints to work within, both visually and technologically which is important for the game’s soul.

CM, at it’s core, no matter what the doomers say, is an RP server, immersion is very, very important.

People roll spec because it’s powerful, not because it’s “so cool”, scout can go invisible and has stun rounds and incend rounds.

Everyone keeps saying this but I haven’t seen any proof that it’s true, the only ones I ever see people talk about when they say that COs can’t be unique anymore are Juro and Windhealer, the first not even being an RP standards thing if I remember correctly and the second’s gimmick being absolutely ridiculous.

CM is an RP server with the premise of being the USCM from Aliens and fighting the Aliens from Aliens, if somebody goes “oh hey I didn’t know there was an Aliens server” and joins to see mechs, laser guns, super sleek futuristic aesthetics, and the CO shouting about “xendigos”, they’re probably going to not take the RP seriously (or maybe just leave) because it’s so far detached from Aliens.

(I do think I now have a better understanding of how TGMC got this way, though)

i know that immersion is important but it is quite funny for me that is has such a great importance on a 2d top down sprite art game, besides the sound and the RP that people do, it is difficult to find the game scary or immersive art wise ,i am not that saying that the art sucks , the art is great and it has alot of detail , but the immersion is based on if the players want to feel immerse in that universe, even if it has 2d art good or bad , if it has no sound or environment noise, who shall decide if they really feel immerse at the end it is the player, so if you can mix elements that can bring the playerbase joy and combine with the universe well enough that the player think it is logical to have that, then it is a good mix.

On the take that the game should be like the Aliens universe, i believe it is great to have most of the stuff insipired from there, it is a good basis but at the same time as the developers already did, the game has a great amount of stuff that came from the players mind or the devs themselves, we also got stuff from the same universe that is not in the game such as mechs, we already got similar stuff look at it : Exosuit | Xenopedia | Fandom , even energy weapons , they already exist in the universe: List of USCM weapons and equipment | Xenopedia | Fandom , the only issue is being able to bring these stuff to the game in a balanced manner, if i join an Alien and i only see predictable stuff, i will find it boring, but if i join an Alien game and found that the devs have expanded the universe and added things on their own, i will find it incredible.
