Remove or revamp temp maturity

This clip is not even 2 minutes from roundstart and the queen already gone to hunt survs. This has to be the worst designed and most one sided feature in this entire game. I’ve never once seen a queen use this feature in good faith (to defend the hive). Instead, it’s always used to screech survs roundstart and get usually a free 2-6 larva. This was added to prevent survs on lowpop (lowpop issue lol) from rushing the hive and ending the round prematurely, yet it’s never happened and it’s only been used to attack. The PR made to fix this doesn’t actually fix anything, as a queen can still walk anywhere on the map to abuse this. Once again I propose the same changes that I have in my other post:

  1. Make the temp maturity go away when far away from hive core. (this would fix it)

  2. Early maturity only activates if the queen is shot near hive core. (this would also fix it)

It’s also funny how despite the temp maturity mechanic xenos still sometimes get somewhat damaged by survivors to the point of the round ending shortly after marines land. Just recently a PMC and couple of survivors caused xenos to fumble.

Neither suggestion 1 or 2 posted will be happening, and this is essentially a duplicate idea by the same person Queen rushing survs changes

Yes, I’m making this because the fix pr doesn’t fix a single thing about it except for queen tunneling on LV, the clip that is attached to this post is a fresh clip from a few hours ago.

Scrap the entire idea. Make it so indestructable super-slow weeds appear around ovied Queen in like 30-40 tiles around her. They dissapear when marines land.

Or face the constant band-aid on top of a band-aid. Admit defeat, admit it was a bad idea.

As I already pointed out on discord, the handholding cycle is insanely contrived.

First we had evo locks to stop survs from getting rushed.

That led to survs to be able to rush the hive.

Then we added the early maturity mechanic, so survs can’t rush the hive.

That led to Queen being able to rush survs :clown_face:

Now we are trying to resolve this… I am gonna bet, this gonna fix nothing, and there will be more band-aid solutions to fix the results of previous band-aid solutions. Should we call it “band-aid creep”? Just scrap everything and start over honestly.

and replace it with what. I like the idea of the hive core being the main defence. However unbreakble weeds wont do much when you got no xenos to throw at the survs.

Unbreakable doors on the other hand would work wonders. Then you get a little resine bunker to hide in.

The super weeds thing is actually a good idea to be honest. 30-60x tiles around the hive core as a surv deterrent.

I mean if survs would be able to still push that then thats just really skill issue on the part of xenos.

Make it so that survs move on sticky resin speed or even much worse if they’re on top of it. And make it indestructable.

Yeah i guess you’r right. If you can’t defend agisnt a surv push on weeds like that then you just suck at xeno.

Would likely have been a wipe when the marines landed anyway.

I feel map loot have the most blame. Scout equipment near hive. Having great loot SW mining caves solaris where there is a hive spawn. It encourage survs to go there, and then things get escalated where even queen dies. I think first step is to overhaul the loot spawn location or nerf it to something else and have it where hive don’t spawn. If we remove the issue we have with queen now, it will go back to where survs just killing immature queen and hive again.

How hard is it to force queen to be in hive and not rush survs and survs not to go to hive. It sounds so easy. Like it should just be ahelpable from survs and queen griefing. Notes do pile up and the problem sort itself out. But that is to strict?

Wait are you telling me queen can metarush (with screech/neurospit) survivors 2 minutes in into the match with a horde of drones to tackle spam and cap survivors now? Isn’t that going to lead to imbalanced matches due to double burst?

Why not just remove survivors I don’t understand?

Yeah I came here because I got rushed as Surv on low pop ON CC. Queen ran right up and spat me, I was hella confused until I heard this was because of some fix that was ongoing like this. Now, the previous was a FOE Hive, and they put the core almost as close to the north wall of the main reactor entrance, so plenty of wiggle room for going out. Next time this happened was on Kutjevo for the CLF spawn, and that is a long LONG way away from where a Hive would be. Yet the queen had free reign for the entire siege, and four people against a Queen constantly spitting and screeching you at like 4m into a round doesn’t make for a fun round. Almost no reasons for survivors to go near the hive unless its on Shivas and you want to be a gamer and go for the egg or the implant, you should just stay out regardless.

Whatever change needs to be done to stop Survs from rushing the hive (Which I think is a rule break anyways) this isn’t it.

Ngl the hive weed idea sounds great! You can’t attack using weeds that are stuck to the hive core, not really… whereas temp maturity is a double edged sword.
