Remove the: “biological hazard in the area, deploying weedkiller” notice. It serves no purpose, no one reacts to it and all it does is undercut the “we don’t know what’s down there” roleplay. There’s no need for the explanation of “why is LZ” not weeded, because it isn’t. Could even make it a secret that the Alamo fires something without informing anyone, ARES knows there’s Xenos but no one else does (movie???)
I think the weedkiller should be like an actual thing you need to install on Alamo that you can use until like 10 minutes after the drop. Things being deployed at their own suck in general, because there is no playing the game.
Just for consideration on the xeno side, gas has become the go to warning that marines are about to land, and I think an indicator of which LZ command set to primary.
ARES knows there’s Xenos but no one else does (movie???)
This sounds cool. But looking at it from a movie perspective would require some more antagonism from Synths/Joes/CL for more narrative coherence. Otherwise the idea falls a bit short.
Since writing this I have noticed that ARES gives a secret bioscan at the start of the round for observers to see how many xenos there are on the planet and on the ship. So I guess it already knows?
CL gets a printout with info on the colony (that the mapper sets up) so it’s definitely plausible that there’s some sort of evil afoot that everyone but the Marines knows about.
