Event so far, there’s plans to add it properly, things like the Queen and such are on it’s way, stay tuned, hopefully it will happen. ![]()
zombies don’t work because people metagame it and instantly decapitate every zombie (and the zombies are generally on average slower than marines so they really can’t do much about getting gunned down at range and instantly decapped)
there’s a reason most zombie media they aren’t an armed army group facing like 5 zombies.
probably fixed mostly by just making zombies delimb proof but there’s also issues of shuttle crush/cremating etc which would probably need rules intervention instead. then you have people just walling zombies in corners etc. never ending battle and zombies really won’t be fun until people stop metagaming how to make them unable to revive imo.
with the neos right now they’re super wonky balance wise but the luxury of starting from the ground up is you don’t have to give a fuck about the current balance and the people who will die defending it so that nothing ever changes, so it will be interesting to see the new metas created by their new skillsets. main thing is just that the relative stealth of infections means usually marines get infected on mass and don’t even realize until they all start bursting and then instantly get rolled
Make so that any interaction with zombie body carries a risk of infection (if you are not wearing full set bio suit with mask and air tank). And that infection speeds up the more you interact with infected corpses.
Done, decapping, dragging zombies to a corner to wall them off, etc, it could cause you becoming infected and turn fast, and those three-four guys in full bio set won’t do as much as every single marine can now.
Give zombies abilities, like a regular crusher charge on a windup and stuff like that, which isn’t that hard to avoid, but isn’t that easy either.
I think zombies need there own version of SL. Just something to rally behind so you can have acutal hordes romeing the map.
Maybe have it to when you’r near the zombie SL you gain passive regen. That way after a fight you are not left at 2 hp like you normaly would.
Some ideas for zombies types would be.
Common infected- When you get infected you have an 70% to turn into these. They function mostly the exact the same as zombies do now.
Zombie leader- 10% to turn into one of these. Effectivly the same as a common infected except you can tap other zombies to have them join you’r horde. Horde mebers get a SL tracker like humans do. Any human who is turned by a zombie in you’r horde automaticly joins it. A zombie who is in a horde already cant join yours till there horde breaks up. This can only happen if the zombie leader dies. When a zombie leader comes within 30 tiles of a human said human will get a message that says “a horride smell fills the air. Something bad is comeing.” They can told apart from other zombies by the fact that they are ozzing black goo from there entire body.
Screemer- 5% to turn into this. When you turn you’r muscle bulg out so much any clothing or armor you were wearing is ripped off. This combined with you larger size makes you easy to spot in battle. You are far tankier and do much more melee damage. You’r name comes from you’r ablity called rage. You let out a massive screem of pain and begin to strin you body to it’s limit. You damage and movement speed increases a lot. But you take damage to you’r arms when you hit stuff. But you recover a lot faster from damage meaning you operate in short burst of hyper agression. Good for attacking fob.
Stalker- 10% to turn into this. You are a backliner zombie. You gain passive regen but are not effected by the regen of a zombie leader. You’r speed is increased a lot. You’r main ablity is that you can see humans on tacmap when they are close to you. This allows you to find holes in human cades or any people who fled the main attack.
Lure- 5% to turn into this. Sometimes the infection takes the body but not the mind fully. These are just like regular zombies except they look much closer to humans then normal. Instead haveing super pale skin and bleeding black blood. Much like working joes they have pre made voices they can use. In lore this the shattered mind of the host trying to communicate. I like the idea of them talking over the radio telling command that they “don’t feel well” over and over just to mess with people.

Better yet. Just have most of the zombies be AI and any players who get infected turn into special ones. Then if you die the player can take control of a AI zombine and it will evo into a special one.
Pathogen i find very fascinating. No walls building, no screech. But still more deadly than prime hive after what I’ve seen. Maby it’s because they are not used to fight them. Still its fun to watch
I love them because they feature a RTS caste ala TGMC Hivemind
They’re fun to deal with. I’d also remember that cooking them does not make their meat safe to eat. I learned this the hard way with with a burger as mess tech.
