Tempelers - Staff Report: Enforcement Action Taken - SmellyHippie

What’s your BYOND key:

Tempelers

Your character name:

Virginia Markso

Their BYOND key:

SmellyHippie

What are you reporting?:

Enforcement Action Taken

Description of the incident:

During Nuclear Alert, I deployed to the FOB to render medical aid. When I had arrived, the FOB was widely unsafe and would likely cause my death (which it did). So, as there were ZERO safe spaces on the colony, I stayed with the marines and corrupted queen to have them to act as my protection while there were no safe areas on the planet. I was hereby noted by SmellyHippie for an action that I believe is within the rules and RP accurate as my character would not stay in the FOB that was unguarded and had nobody defending it while the enemy xenomorph queen was breaching it. When I came back to the FOB, I was killed by the xenomorph queen who had breached the FOB where we were lacking marines. Thus, I believe that the marines pushing comms was the safe space, not the FOB.

Evidence:

None. However, there are witnesses and the Queen of that round can attest that the FOB was undefended and unguarded.

Could you clarify the events a bit better? Your note is as follows: Note - Rule 2 - Deployment: As a Doctor, during nuclear protocol, was seen near the frontlines right outside the FOB. Reminded that even during nuclear protocol shipside roles should not be frontlining, and should be focused on defending the nuke.

I’m confused as to how the FOB was unguarded and unsafe, if the nuke was there? I was obviously not there for the situation, and I am not saying it is impossible, but could you elaborate on how the FOB was unsafe (and thus the nuke), but the area outside the FOB was safe?

Uh the map was LV and the nuke was at the north comms tower, if I remember correctly. FoB was falling actively with a few breaches too when i got there (I was OT, Keith Arfold). Most forces were wiped. I personally arrived for last shuttle cycle before evac (i got capped sadly)

I can clarify events much more. I was the XO for the round.

At this point in the game, hour 3, marine man power was utterly depleted. Every squad was in the single digits and even with the boost from shipside roles deploying for the nuclear protocol, there were still only 12~15 marines total on the ground. FOB was held by stubborn determination, hallucinogenic super crack, and a force that only steadily declined after the Nuke arrived at the 2nd hour. Key to these events is that we had a small team of Greenos (~5) deploy to bolster marines on the ground. During the moments of the aforementioned FOB breach, marine strength was such that it was difficult to both defend the FOB while also attacking the Communications Relays that the Prime Hive had pylon’d for King. Again, even with the shipside bolster from Nuclear Protocol, marine strength on the ground is on its last legs.

A couple marines went with the Greenos to kill the Pylon at Communications Dome, which drew more marines away from FOB as they trailed to join the fight. This left the Southeast Corner of LZ2 (Garage of Corpo Dome) nearly unguarded. Alpha Specialist (the Sniper) was present, but against a Queen and other xenos you can’t really do much as one guy. Xenos kill the Sniper, breach the cades, and freely walk into FOB killing 2 others with the Queen (WAR) at the lead, since every other squad marine was drawn to the fight at Comms Dome. The pylon goes down, those in FOB run out enmasse. I am seeing this from the TacMap thinking this might be it, call evac at LZ1/Nexus and run for your lives. However, against all odds marines rally at East FOB with the Greenos, push back into FOB, and secure a couple kills against the xenos. Prime Hive did not take this time to dive into the FOB in strength, as some prime xenos were drawn to the marines poking at East Corpo (their flank) and Comms Dome.

Southeast FOB is recaded, but we evac’d shortly after since we lost more marines in a Xeno counter attack later. Last ARES scan that I can recall seeing before this had xenos number at ~18. We had maybe 10 marines, with shipside roles deployed to FOB included, successfully evac. Greenos also lost a few.

To be clear to this point: Queen and others had moved into the FOB, killing marines freely. Outside of the FOB, to the east and outside FOB cades, marines and greenos from the Comms Dome pylon skirmish were gathering to push back into FOB.

As the others said, the nuke was at north comms, not the FOB. I deployed not knowing that the FOB was under attack and under the presumption that it would be safeguarded. When I got it, there was only one cade and xenomorphs right there. I followed the marines pushing the south comms, as it was the only place that had marines. I was unaware that the Alpha Spec was in the FOB because he was cloaked. I did not render aid on the front, merely following behind the marines. Now, if I knew the nuke was north comms, I would’ve gone there.

After I was noted, I proceeded back to the FOB, where I promptly died to the Queen because of them being in the middle of the FOB.

Someone was confused about something: the nuke was definitely in the FOB, just north of the landing pad. I was the ASO guarding it.
It’s been a bit but I am decently sure there were two lines of cades in all directions, but there were effectively no marines left to cover most of them what with the counter-pushes, especially the corp dome, so the outer layer was chewed through unchallenged.

I deeply apolgise for the sheer length of time it has taken to reply to this report.

I agree with your assessment that there was no safe place on the colony. That said, your responsibility in that instance is to get off the planet ASAP, which would require you to remain at FOB to get on the dropship. If the colony is not safe, you should not be there. Nuclear protocols allow near enough anyone to deploy to defend the FOB (which partially lifts the DON’T FIGHT part of the rule for non-combat personnel) but if the FOB is breached or unsafe for you to remain then you should not remain.
