Description of the incident:
I was playing a CL and almost immediately at round start 4 people come to my office with Wey-Yu $500 dollar gift cards. I knew nothing about them IC and thus went ahead and faxed appropriately IC to hopefully get some sort of resolution. I didn’t receive an answer to my first one, or my second fax. I then was met with the arrival of the CMP and MP’s who came with about 50 of those gift cards and demanded payment. When I couldn’t provide it immediately a MP fired their weapon hitting a Mess-Technician who was also there causing a disturbance (I’m guessing they were trying to RP being angry that they didn’t receive payment and that the CL must be a scammer). After the first shot was fired the MPs didn’t follow marine law and do their jobs to hold the MP who opened fire for no reason accountable, neither did command. My Bodyguard finally got them to leave my office and then the MP’s came back to arrest me. When being arrested I was never told my charges and ended up being released because of boarding. Still the MP’s clearly committed an un-lawful arrest. Upon returning to my office to leave using my pod the Mess-Tech was there demanding payment again and when we told him to leave he decided to draw him pistol and try to shoot the door to my office down. He was stunned and cuffed by my CB and then we left Altmayer without further incident. (I apologize if this report was not polished, this is my first report but I did take time to read the rules to ensure I did my best)
Evidence:
I don’t have the logs or a screenshot, but I can confirm that the CB that round witnessed all of the events and will likely comment on their experience in the round.
Hey, I was the CMP, there’s a few things you got wrong here. First, it wasn’t round start (at least for the MPs showing up with the gift cards) it was around 30-40 minutes in I’d say, well after briefing and first drop. We found a few giftcards on the table in the messhall and decided free money was free money so we came by your office. We were standing around for like 5 or so minutes just waiting talking with your bodyguard while outside your office since he said to form a line (the Messtech was first). After which you came out and instead of telling us the gift cards were counterfeits or whatever decided to instead tell us that you would give us 200 dollars for it instead of the 500 promised on the gift card. So we called you a cheapskate.
The person who got shot was not in fact shot by an MP, it was the CE threatening to shoot themselves if the MPs didn’t exit the office, who shot herself right after we all left (PB to the head not in the mouth). No MP actually fired a shot during this, the CE was brought to a researcher for medical attention.
After a bit more negotiation the bodyguard decided to kick everyone out of the office and locked the shutters, taking all of the gift cards with them. At which point we told the CO about the situation who told us to just arrest you for the scam. You were told you were under arrest when we came for you, you are required to be told your charges right after placing you in your cell so there was no Mlaw breach there (since the MW never finished processing you due to hijack).
The only time I heard that this was a scam was from your bodyguard when I passed him in the hallway after you were already arrested. Maybe straight up tell us it’s a scam or smth next time dude like I dunno how you saw this going down. As for the mess tech shooting down your door I have no clue I wasn’t there anymore since it was hijack.
Do note the MPs never did anything physical until right before hijack when we arrested you for the scam. Which you complied with so all that happened was a simple arrest.
(Edit: Also faxing usually won’t get you a response depends heavily on there being a fax responder and if there is none then the off chance an admin decides to grace you with a response.)
You are required to state what crime I have committed at the time of the arrest are you not? The MP didn’t state exactly what crime I committed. I could be wrong but it seems like this wasn’t handled properly in terms of an arrest.
I distinctly remember one of the mp’s pulling their sidearm. Maybe the CB player for that round can rectify that issue. There were admittedly some faults of my own but the gift cards did look somewhat realistic, so I was trying to get some clarification IC and then things escalated.
Yeah… I was the chef. I just deleted my video recordings otherwise I could just upload it.
Anyway, Tamy the MT was making the coupons and leaving them around the ship. The warden just sorta ran them through a copier though. I don’t remember anyone opening fire? I did come in and draw my gun for the lols because I wanted my money. I never saw any real escalation, aside from you being arrested(I believe the CO landed on Neglect of Duty) and when you guys mag dumped me with 30 stunpistol rounds, which yeah, duh, I drew a pistol.
Hello! I will have to deny this report for the following reasons:
-No shots were fired by the MPs during the entire situation; the only casualty was the CE due to a self-inflicted gunshot.
-MPs are to read you your charges prior to starting the brig counter, not as soon as they detain you.
-The arrest was ordered by the CO, so it was not unlawful in that regard either.
The CE will be issued a warning under Rule 2 due to their decision to shoot themselves over a minor altercation that had little to do with them. Such erratic behavior constitutes LRP and does not reflect the conduct expected of a commissioned officer or our set community standard.
