Command Knowledge:
How familiar are you with command positions?
I am very familiar with command positions, whether its from all the roles in the CIC to the various heads of department throughout the ship, and through the ground via roles such as Squad Leader and FTL. Playing various roles has allowed me to have a better insight as to how an operation should flow and what is required to allow it to function properly. Though my biggest weakness is requisitions, a severe lack of playtime in that role would have me looking through a guide as I play it. Though I generally have a good idea on how it should work, as well as experience helping out the department when I can.

Character Information:
Why did your character decide to become the CO of a ship?
My character developed a sense and love for order when he signed up to join the Royal Marine Commando’s to escape the lifestyle of gang violence and drug dealing that he was raised in. That sense of order was shattered when he came to terms with the Three World Empire’s inability to secure its own worlds beyond the Core Territories. He found a new beacon of stability with the Colonial Marines admiring their ability to stomp out fires across multiple sectors of space. After his service was completed, he signed up for the Colonial Marines in order to do his part in ending insurgencies throughout the outer territories and believes he can best do so by taking command of his own vessel and bringing order to the stars.
How did your character attain the position of CO?
Several years after transferring to the Colonial Marines and graduating from OCS, he was in the position of Ground Commander during the early phases of an operation to end an ongoing rebellion on a colony seceding from the Three World Empire. After their Commanding Officer was relieved of command during the operation, he took Command of the Armoured Recon Company he was attached to and using speed and aggession, led them to eliminating critical important rebel weapons emplacements that were preventing the deployment of another Company. Upon the conclusion of Operation Rabbid Hammer, they were elevated to the rank of Major.
Provide a short story of your CO.
Command Actions:
When do you believe it’s appropriate to pardon a prisoner?
An appropriate pardon of a prisoner would best be achieved if you investigate the matter fully, gathering as much information as you can as to what had happened. That would be from the MPs, the prisoner’s story, and ideally an appeal if one had occurred prior to the pardon. Other factors that could be weighed is if the prisoner in question is new to the role. If the prisoner is apologetic and takes responsibility for their actions, this would be weighed with the impact the prisoner would have on the ongoing operation should they be pardoned.
Give some examples of when you would or would not use pardon.
1.) A Doctor whilst in the process of making questionable chemical mixtures in the lab causes an explosion that destroys most of the important chemical vendors in the laboratory during a lowpop and low staff medbay round and are subsequently detained for Neglect of Duty. I would question whether he knew what would happen when that chemical mixture is made, the risks as well as his understanding of why it exploded. If he understands and apologizes for the incident, I would pardon them.
2.) A Smartgunner gets into a fistfight in the prep room with another squad marine and it escalates to a knife fight that leads to a brawl and shooting before MPs intervene arresting multiple parties. In this particular case, because of the randomness of the brawl and the escalation into a serious incident, I would not be issuing a pardon.
3.) A Maintenance Technician has been dismantling walls, hacking into airlocks and constructing random walls around engineering and the firing range. They were then arrested for Major Damage to Government Property. They are clearly a new player and through your investigation you understand that they were trying to learn how to construct and deconstruct things and hack into airlocks and there was no other MT, SEA, or CE to teach them. I would help them understand the laws in place that prevent unnecessary construction in the ship and who to ask for permission to do these things. If they are apologetic and understand what was wrong with their actions, I would issue a pardon.
When do you believe it’s appropriate to use a Battlefield Execution?
A Battlefield Execution should only take place when a situation requires that it would be absolutely necessary and other means of resolving the problem are unavailable, such as a lack of MPs. These situations could be moments where there is a credible threat to you or other people around you such as a disgruntled survivor shooting at an SO for not giving them the access they want in your presence, or when someone is attempting to undermine your command in a critical situation such as a member of the CIC cancelling evacuation multiple times despite being warned.
Give some examples of when you would or would not use Battlefield Execution.
1.) When in the middle of briefing, you are interrupted multiple times by Marines fighting each other with chairs. After firing your gun in the air and warning Marines to calm down and listen to the brief, a marine walks up to you and hits you over the head with a chair. At this point I would make use of a Battlefield Execution.
2.) You are on the ground and order your marines to gather with you to make a push to capture an objective, such as comms. A Squad Leader is consistently arguing against the idea, giving different reasons why you should not be pushing out of the FOB. They disagree with your actions but otherwise follow you into the fight. In this case, the Squad Leader is in disagreement with your stated plan but has not disobeyed any orders nor have they attempted to convince others to disobey. This does not undermine my command and will not take any steps beyond maybe an Insubordination charge.
