How viable of a tactic would it be to take 1 or 2 mortar shells to the front with a flamer with the 1 tile flamer nozzle and then toss the shell and pop it with a 1 tile flame?
Iirc mortar shells being detonated with fire got massively nerfed precisely because of this. They were extremely powerful at breaching and area denial (Incend shells). Whilst a fun gimmick, the gameplay utility was too powerful to avoid using, so this is why we canât have nice things
Itâs practically useless now. Wonât hurt xenos, doesnât damage walls much.
Iâm not really bothered by this nerf specifically - I donât want mortar shells being stolen by plucky PFCâs or having half the fob blown up by them anyway.
What actually irks me about it is that mortar shells exploding huge was perfectly fine as long as it only fucked over marines, but the very second it affected xenos? Gone. No need for a 30 page thread arguing about it and being told âweâre never changing thisâ. Just gone the very second it did anything more than hurt marines.
Well yeah. If something only hurts yourself, its not OP.
But when it becomes a god damn OT grenade+++ it becomes a very big problem. Especially since they are both free and numerous.
Mortars cooking off and killing marines? Soul
Mortars being used every round as uber grenades? Stupid.
Though I wish the change would have been to just make it so mortar shells canât be thrown more than a tile or two, since watching mortars cook-off, or using them as a trap was still soul.
Can that be changed?
Iâm sure it could be, but not by me.
I agree. It was 100% soul, and I think making them almost unthrowable would be a pretty good fix.
REQ is in shambles.
I do think the inability to throw them will be annoying for req, but Iâm not sure what else could be done. Perhaps the mortars could just be âextinguishedâ when thrown, I suppose.
This is a really good compromise, we could make them heavy as hell so unable to moved or tossed, but readd old cook off.
It was enjoyable to watch fob explode under pressure.
I mean, good req players will use crates to rapidly move multiple stacks of things anyways. The only people affected by this will be people who individually throw everything instead of using crates, aka. newer players.
oh no, thatâs gore of my req ego
mfw marines have a round start, infinately purchasable, near maxcap level explosive they can easily use via under barrel flamer
Can you? Can you cause that to explode via fire? Genuine question.
