He warned them…they laughed.

The events of the round of CM exist in a unique state of the universe, in that this event is the singular, defining, moment of the USS Almayer and her personnel.
There is only ever one outbreak, there is only one Almayer, there is only one hive that the same battalion is fighting.
With all this in mind, there is always one Gonzo the Magnificent. The presence of Gonzo is justified in the same way of justifying the presence of the Marines or the Xenomorph hive, it is because they are a universal constant in this singular event.
The locations change but the chess pieces stay the same.

Gonzo the Magnificent is the false identity of the psychically adept warlord The Mule, the First Citizen of the Union of Worlds. Him being present everywhere is an integral part of his plan, as this allows him to psychically manipulate his adversaries.
Why would Marines fail? It’s simple. Fear RP, marine chokes, all caused by the Mule’s malignant influence. All of this is intended to make USS Almayer fall as the first stage of his plan to invade Earth, the home of the Settlers, and the original birthplace of humanity.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to take a boat to Tazenda.
