Curious how every few years the standards on being a good “command player” change wildly
Honest advice to anyone looking at this, just be yourself, try to give the best round you can, don’t stress out if you loose, the best memories are usually from losing. Blend in or be the most outlandish person in CIC, as long as it’s you. Don’t listen to people too much on how to play (Unless they’re giving decent advice) cause everyone has their own way of thinking how CIC should be played. That’s the beauty of it, you get to pick how to play.
Some of the most well known names were people who were all original in their own command style. They weren’t all the best CIC players, but they made some of the most memorable rounds by simply being creative or bringing their own twist on the round.
Joe Dafoe
Grub Dunkers
Windhealer (idk how to spell his first name)
Tom Dinkle
Frans Feuffer
Bill Carson
Bob Cross
Ricky Boar
Nigel Godfrey
Alan Jones
And many more
Surprised nobody has mentioned him yet but it all probably comes back to Bob Cross. The type of player who OOCly gets mad at an XO for not doing gameplay-optimal things also didn’t like him back then.
I think putting trust in your squad leads and staff officers and their ideas is definitely a good thing to do. Don’t overdo it to the point you’re just yes manning everything ofc, but if someone has a good plan, support them, make it happen.
