Yeah pretty much what Im stuck on, I don’t think xenos should necessarily have xray, but getting rid of it would be a fuckin turbonerf yk? At least I assume as much, again my xeno playtime aint much to write home about it
As an occasional xeno player, yeah, the x-ray sight is very much a huge part of xeno balance. The x-ray is what allows xenos to help pick their fights and either ambush an unaware lone marine, or GTFO if the entire marine corps are closing in and you’re just a healer drone (usually the latter for me lol). This knowledge is huge for xeno gameplay and I don’t know if there’s any real way to replace it.
I will add that as xeno, I usually struggle to see scouts even through walls. It seems a lot of people have their brightness turned up to help see scouts through walls, but not me, apparently.

I could see a case for making scout completely invisible through walls, but I don’t think Byond can handle such things. But right now, more than half of the Xeno gameplay is reliant on seeing through walls. You wanna play warrior? You need to see through walls to ambush marines and see when you can go. You wanna play lurker? There are shitloads of maps where if you don’t see them first, you lose all sense of ambush.
When i play as a xeno i can reliably spot a scout in open ground
behind walls its joever for him but you have to stop and look for him, moving makes it impossible to spot
i dont know if i have just that good eyesight or its because i learned how to look for him (same as SADAR)
but generaly cloak for me makes the scout not be spotted instantly
the cloak is fine as is imo and snipers hide is very bad if you dont sit there and hide like that one modern warfare mission (idk i never played any of the games) the xenos can pass through you and resting as scout is good enough allready
