Xenos Structure: Acid Fog/Monofillament Wire Umbrella

I don’t see a lot of cool Xenos toy suggestions on here, and I don’t know a lot about xenos gameplay, but here I thought it would be fun to think up some utility.

What if there was a quantity limited structure, fluffed as a sort of acid cloud, or web of monofilament wires, that would protect a certain area from mortars and CAS strikes.

  • One per hivelord/queen or limited hive evolution thingy. You get the idea. Only a couple of them available per match like an OB.
  • Protects 1.5-2.5 screens square from CAS/Mortars. OB wouldn’t be affected.
  • Structure can attacked from the ground, or an OB can kill it.
  • Alerts marines that strike was unsuccessful because of some sort of cloud in the area.

There might be a couple of locations on certain maps where this could be cancerous, but that can be addressed on a per-map level and when in doubt, nuke it from orbit.

Thoughts Xenos players?

Im in favor BUT itd have to be extremely limited with a high build cooldown if destroyed.

We had this and it didn’t work. CAS players already on suicide watch because they become useless as soon as marines reach caves.

Howdy! This is actually already a thing in the CAS CONTENT NUKE, which currently has some failures that need to be adjusted, to my knowledge. The spore pillar functions mostly the same as what you described, alongside damaging the dropship weapons and making them need repairs.

I was thinking only allowing 2-3 at MOST a match. Just a way to shake things up without turning it into ground slog. Mainly to bait out OB’s and allow for different hold points on maps besides caves. I figured something was either in the works or legacy stuff though.
