5/18/25 FOB Rework Feedback

This thread is for the test merge earlier today. I play as a comtech and here are my thoughts

-The mounts and sentry heads are too large, taking up too much space on the alamo and maybe need be brough down to a 1x1 instead of a 2x2

-The emergency generator needs some kind of “are you sure?” and “are you really sure” so John Comtech doesn’t turn it on and waste the extra time it gives

-Make mats more accessible to comtech. Bad actors and new players will use the limited amount of mats to cade random bullshit instead of what needs to be caded (the generator) and CTs still need the ability to set up chokepoints and safe zones wherever on the map

-Extra power loaders

-Maybe some kind of security thing where you need access in order to interact with the equipment, way too many chefs in the kitchen

I played the same round as Comtech and I concur with all.

The biggest problem I saw with this rework is that it’s dependent on marines holding the power transformer. When you completely butcher a CT’s metal supply, they’re not going to be able to move up and barricade anything, they choose to focus on securing the LZ first.

To help both secure the FOB and secure these new vital transformers, I believe that all CTs should get their metal roundstart, or at the very least be able to purchase it from their vendors.

Furthermore, since there’s such a strain for holding these transformers to keep the FOB up and running, I believe the generator should last longer, like 10 minutes, or have two 5 minute charges that have a slight cooldown in-between. Again, if there’s a major push with these buildings and their mechanics, I don’t think they should be completely dashed against the rocks just because xenos can move across the colony faster.

As a reminder we don’t really do public feedback forms for dev stuff, you can discuss it on the discord or here: CM-SS13 - Forums (the latter of which we’ve already gotten some really good info for, which we appreciate.)

This is because public feedback forms have a tendency to invite harassment towards devs, and have a low signal to noise ratio for useful feedback(though your messages aren’t abusive, mind.)
