Yes! I already do.

Final Details:

Why would you like to join the CM-SS13 staff team?

Earlier today Stalkerino and Harry suggested I apply so I started considering it and I think that I’ve quite enjoyed my previous staff experiences when it comes to SS13 and its servers, as well as event hosting on other SS13 servers, as well as various other games where I played a similar role. I enjoy the community of CM, the other staff members, and the player base a lot. The games meh, but I still enjoy it all the same. I’d like to be staff to help out some more, plus, in my past experiences it was pretty fun.

What makes you a great addition to Staff? (Experienced Tabletop DM, Aliens Lore Buff, Super Organized, etc.?)

I’ve DMed for a ton of campaigns running 5e, am an avid role-player, hosted events for similar SS13 servers and Roblox games. I’ve been an actor for a couple “lore games” where I’d have to carefully play a character role to help tell the story of the game and I was pretty good at it. I also have an in-depth knowledge of in game admin commands due to my past experiences. I also work pretty well under pressure as I’ve been told before and am a HUGE Alien lore nerd.

In your opinion, what is the most important quality of a CM-SS13 staff member?

Really just common sense and the ability to know when they’re wrong. A big issue I see with staff and players alike is not knowing when to back down from an argument or a debate or whatever. Being able to look at yourself and say “I was wrong, I should apologize and back off” is a huge thing which I wish I saw in more people, staff and player alike.

Anything else you want to add?

I’m a discord volunteer if that counts for anything, thanks for reading :stuck_out_tongue:
also, these are my cats

I’ve known turtle for a while, they handle conflict well from what I’ve seen. In many cases I’ve had turtle admit they were wrong, and then acting to right those wrongs, they aren’t stuck up nor do i think them becoming staff would change that. +1

i was informed that my previous response was unprofessional and i needed to change it, my new comment is as follows.

after your actions on may 15th i have little faith in you as a staff member due to your actions as a discord volunteer, when i came to you about a issue which you watched occur you downplayed the situation and then tried convincing me it wasnt a problem after which i had to push you to actually handle the situation, which leads me to feel as if you may have biases in staffing.

Checking the adminbiz (discord log channel) most of the uses of your limited tools are used to joke around, and while i understand messing around occasionally from what i can see most of it is just messing around it reflects poorly on the staff team as a whole.

to put it simply, i think you would be a bad fit as CM staff and i do not have much faith in you due to the actions above

I dont mean to be ummmm argumentstive or downplay your opinion because youre entitled to one and its preferctly ok for you to not think I’d make a good staff member but I think that the guidelines say you need to provide a reason or criticism for your +1/-1? If i misread them thats fine but I’d still appreciate atleast a reasoning so I caj try to improve on it!

Yes, if you’re given feedback, it’s expected to be constructive. Please keep all feedback constructive people

Honestly I don’t really agree with your reasoning to downvote my application.

  1. My “inaction” after you brought up the issue to me was me telling you I couldn’t immediately ban him from the discord as you demanded of me. I literally do not have ban perms.

  2. Boston called you a name which you disliked, you told him that you didn’t like that name, then he apologized. I don’t think this really calls for any action, let alone immediate permeant banning, but I warned him anyway for you. It’d be different if he continued saying the name or fucking with you but he clearly didn’t mean to offend and IMMEDIATELY apologized.

  3. The reason most of my moderation actions are jokes is because there really isn’t a ton for discord mods to do, the amount of tomfoolery in the discord server is surprisingly minimal. Even still whenever somebody brought up to me that I should stop using my commands as jokes, I stopped immediately and haven’t since.

I’m sorry I made a bad impression to you and I still respect your criticism I just wanted to put my side of things somewhere for anybody who might be reviewing this :stuck_out_tongue:

While I enjoy their presence on discord as I person, I cannot see them taking the role of moderator with the seriousness it requires.

With their use of discord volunteer mainly consisting of ‘joke’ warnings and timeouts, which in full disclosure I was subject to once. Green-lighting that behavior by moving towards an in-game moderator role with requirements to answer a-helps in a non-combative manner is not something I can support.

I understand and appreciate your criticism but I would just once again like to restate that I stopped immediately when I was asked to not use my powers in a joking manner anymore. I’d also like to reiterate that there isn’t really a ton for a discord volunteer to do, which is why my track record consists of mostly nothing but tomfoolery. I’d also like to apologize for joking with you in the discord, in case I haven’t already. I can promise professionalism while handling staff matters if this is to go any further in the future :+1:.

I find this hard to believe since just yesterday you called me mentally ill (telling me to go take my meds) for stating that runner doesn’t need nerfs in it’s current state and shrugged it off just as a joke “calling me old” after I expressed I did not like you doing that.

While I do like you as a person I do not think you are fit for the position of moderator.

I apologized to both you and Grim and said that I wouldn’t repeat jokes like this in the future, I’m sorry for upsetting you. I get it doesnt change that it happened but I can promise similar things wont happen again and that I’m sorry.

Yeah, from what I’ve seen you seem to mostly use your discord powers to joke around and such- from your conduct, it doesn’t really inspire the greatest confidence. You say that you’ve changed, but considering the recent timeframe of these events, I don’t think there’s been any time whatsoever to actually see if you’re being genuine, so I’m hesitant to take your words at face value.
-1 for now.

I feel like the reason that you haven’t seen me do a lot of admin work is that there really isn’t a ton to be done on the discord, like, at all, especially not for somebody at my level. People are surprisingly mature 99% of the time on the discord so I really just don’t have a chance to assert much authority. Also, as for the joking stuff, I feel like it really isn’t as serious as you make it up to be? I made some jokes using my commands, I was asked to stop, I stopped. I don’t think that’s really anything that requires a ton of self reflection and thought to it to reshape myself into a whole new person, I’m just more professional now when it comes to my authority.

It’s not a job application and they’re free to make jokes in good taste.
I can not see an issue with muting/timing out your friends unless its done against a random person or someone you know will not take it in good will.
It’s been done by staff, I’ve done it, everyone has done it because it’s funny and its just a joke lol

Oh man you should meet like… Every other staff member? Backsea, Harry, Grim, Stalkerino I think my memories fuzzy, like everybody acts GOOBERISH in the discord cus it’s… Funny…

I understand your feelings in this but I WOULD like to parrot what Stalkerino said, that I only ever used my power against people who I knew and were friends with, and who I believed wouldn’t mind. The FIRST sign that somebody wasn’t happy with my behavior, I stopped. This isn’t really a chronic issue which should be focused on this much I don’t think. I did something other staff have done and I believed was ok, somebody asked me to stop, I stopped.

You state yourself these statements were… Jokes? I was also asking people to downvote my staff app on alts? I really don’t get how this is a factor. Maybe they didn’t land with you but none-the-less they were clearly jokes and nothing more.

Despite all my prattling on which is above, I understand and appreciate your criticisms. I feel like the blame for my actions beforehand fall on both myself and the higherups because I recieved NO training or set of rules besides a brief rundown of a couple commands. I was quite literally asked to be a volunteer and then immediately given the role and told to go wild. I’m not trying to shift blame… Even though that’s exactly how this is coming off, but I think you understand my point. Every bit of advice or criticism I get from community members or staff members I listen to and work to act/improve on. I did with that joke I told Jooks, I’m not going to make similar comments anymore, I did it with my lolligagging using my commands, that’s not gonna happen anymore, and there’s probably more but this comment is long enough as is.

Like I said I’m not trying to dog on you, I’m just stating things that concerned me and your response cleared up some things for me which I do appreciate. I must have missed out on some context as far as the comments and warns, from my understanding you were messing with randoms, however I have been corrected and I do apologize and I’m going to be withdrawing my previous statement.

If this was the case, it can be pretty damning. But as far as I know it was only done to people in good taste?
@Grimreaperx15 could give some context if they wish too.

Hello Turtle,

Thank you for taking the time to apply to the staff team. I enjoy talking with you on the discord as well as in-game, and it’s clear that you care deeply about the community. That said, there have been some recent issues which have arisen during your time with CM, particularly on the discord: issues which I cannot ignore when selecting people to join the staff team. In performing my duties, I must deny this application.

I would be happy to share any further details with you in DMs here on the forums or on the discord if you so wish, but I will not get into the details here on this application. I don’t want people to feel as though they risk having their laundry aired by applying to the staff team.
