so i’ve read up on the one attachment i never see anyone using, the arm brace. apparently it will make your m39 stay in your hand when knocked down, meaning anything from a tackle, to a pounce or even a woyer grab will be null and void in the face of the attachment. you can just keep shooting, in theory, or am i getting this wrong? either way, it seems like a sleeper attachment we should use more :^)

you can keep shooting if you are knocked down, but not stunned, and you get nodrop. really there’s only a couple situations where you’re knocked down but not stunned-- namely defenders, so it’s pretty niche. you can’t just blast a lurker as it pounces you since that stuns you.

The one biggest downside is that wielding the gun will make your accuracy way worse as well as your effective range be 2 tiles instead of 4

It’s a meme attachment basically, not very useful overall. It does make killing xenos with it all much more gratifying though.

Arm brace is such a meme. I ran some tests and figured out that wielded M39 with arm brace + vgrip + RS + RC has better accuracy than one-handed arm brace + LS
Your one-handed accuracy and spread are so shitty that you have to shoot on semi-auto, which is just carpal tunnel moment
Plus most xeno attacks actually stun you, meaning that arm brace is a designated defender/oppressor cucker. It won’t do anything against tail trip, screech/lunge or pounce. And yes, tackle stuns you as well
TLDR: useless trash, so niche that it doesn’t worth it. Grab a mag harness if you don’t want to lose your SMG

It is really funny to do dual M39 arm brace and max out one handed accuracy and crawl around like a worm and magdump PB a runner that tries to drag you off thinking you’re stunned. It’s funny sometimes, that’s it. You CAN crawl on the frontline and still be shooting bullets, but you really aren’t hitting anything unless it’s 1-2 tiles away, and you just go crit in a few slashes.

it should be noted that going prone (resting) doesn’t prevent you from shooting with arm brace, which i’m not sure isn’t a bug or oversight, but regardless is really funny

Just take dual M39s with arm braces and only tactical reload. You won’t hit anything but you may frighten and confuse young benos.

Sargash’s scenario is the only valid use of arm brace.
If you’re really sweaty, care to actually practice it, live in the server room and really lucky on top of that you can actually run the M39 arm-brace + buck RC gyro M37 loadout. Particularly useful on the backpack people (SL, FTL, techs). The idea is that you time your M39 shots in between buck shots.
But, this loadout is still kind of mid, because M39 is suboptimal in open positions and the meta has not been kind to buck for years. So ideally you want to play like a bodyguard for other people and then countercharge the xenos.
Also, M39 was kinda stealth nerfed in the last year or so. The key reason to take it always was that there was always AP ammo available for it, because ASRS would give quite a bit of it for free. Then someone reworked something about ASRS drops and now the practical result is that there’s never anything but the basic mags dropped.
