Add the Building Action Shuffle-Resistance to Medical Actions

ComTechs (or anyone really) building get resistance to being pushed around or shuffled- which is amazing. Feels great.

This needs to be expanded to first-aid & surgery at a minimum. Getting shuffled while doing Larva surgery or getting shuffled while splinting is annoying. CMDev pls fix.

I’ve had a synth cut off my arm while doing IB surgery because they were shuffled. I could get behind this idea providing the shuffle resistance only applied to actions of other humans. I’d still want the xeno to have the ability to run into players and move them causing chaos.

I mean, the current building shuffle thing is only between humans. Xenoes can cancel building by pushing marines. so if it was the same thing for medical, then you don’t have to worry about xeno shuffling being touched.

Medics should suffer more as their impact on the round is incomparable to engies.

This is a cool idea but I’m afraid it’ll stop medics from learning to move injured out of the way of general marine movement lanes (like not treating marines infront of cade doors or in hallways.)

Very good point.

God invested Disarm Intent for a reason.

If a medic is defibbing a guy in the middle of a Queen push you give him the good ol’ one two then drag him away before he gets himself and everyone killed.

Assuming eveyr medic is brain dead by defult and needs to be punshied in order to teach them. They will likely drag the wounded away to avoid the xenos. Unless the person is a full noob this should not be an issue and I imagien they would do it anyway.

Makeing the game easier for players does not mean people won’t learn to play. Plus if said change ment you no longer have to learn to play a certine way then it’s a non issue. Same reason most people in the western world do not know how make navigate using the stars.

Correct me if i’m wrong but- Isn’t push-resistance already in for defibs? I’ve never been pushed during a defib before. ( Hospital Corpsman 348.2 hr)

You’re right, this isn’t quite fair. It’s far safer to assume that every marine is brain dead by default until proven otherwise

In all seriousness though: getting shoved while healing someone is avoidable 8 out of 10 times by simply positioning better. Obviously, you can’t do anything about people homing in on you in the middle of an open field, but a lot of newer medics are already pretty oblivious when it comes to positioning, and I don’t think it’s a huge stretch to say that this may exacerbate the issue further.

Either way, it wouldn’t be the end of the world.

You would be surprised…

It isn’t, but weirdly enough, I can’t remember ever pushed while defibbing either - it’s usually while splinting. Probably a combination of defibbing being louder and more obvious to people and the fact that since it’s only usable on dead players, we have complete control over where we choose to do it.

When I play FTL I’ve actually started carrying a chair around with me (1 metal) and using that to plant myself in place because I get shuffled 8/10 times I start lasing something.

Lasing and splinting are imo the 2 most common actions that get shuffled and stopped by other players. I don’t think it’d hurt anything to change that.

I find the ‘lean on wall’ helps mitigate this somewhat. Opens up the tile for others to walk through, and you don’t get pushed around. I also wonder if allowing someone to simply occupy the same tile as you would be an option. Say that if you’re doing the defib or splint action, and while on help intent someone walking into you just shares the tile with you. I reckon that might result in some unintended interactions, though. And one should just be positioning better, as others have said.

That is both brilliant and very funny.

agree for surgeries, not for something as minor as injectors or bandages
