Anyone watching it? Thoughts?
- I was hoping it would be more like the comics, hives getting nuked and adapting to smaller hives and it being an inevitable game over once they have a foot hold.
- Don’t care for the children in adults bodies gimmick. The only interesting angle so far is the traumatised redhead who believes she pregnant. That lash out at the doctor was descent.
- Wish they’d given the search and rescue team some future armour or at the very least a cool breast plate. I get they’re in Malaysia - I think - and it’s hot but c’mon. Make it cooool.
- Star of the show is man from deadwood as the synth. Hair is peak.
- Boy genius is a bit predictable.
- Love that Weyland YUtani is run by Japanese granddaughter, at a time when it was still the original bloodline in charge.
- Cyborg man is alright…
- Xenomorph was cool, but she moved so damn fast. Let me feast mah eyes on her majesty.
- Shout out to the lead actress. Does a great job of embodying the childlike demeanour. I think her haircut has a lot to do with it.

So far overall it’s solid, they do a good job making it entertaining, and expanding the overall universe. Lots of intrigue and action, and the effects are good.
I have a few nitpicks; I hate they keep doing flash forwards, it SCREAMS insecurity that they’re afraid they won’t capture their audience so they tease the violence to come. It’s zoomer slop IMO. Should have confidence the xeno will steal the show when it shows up. Let the plot develop naturally and speak for itself.
Second the characters reactions to being very nearly ripped in half by a never before seen alien monster is basically nothing. Medic Dude escapes being killed by a xenomorph by the skin of his teeth, unites with his team member, doesn’t even mention it. He’s not freaked out, he’s just chillin. Xeno shows again and kills like a dozen fuckin people right in front of him, and then once again almost kill’s him before it’s incapacitated by Morrow. Doesn’t even mention this to Wendy when she finds him. Wtf??? Completely bizarre. For a basic comparison, in Alien when ripley activates the self destruct she is panicked, drenched in sweat, and damn near hyper-ventilating. In Aliens the marines are freaking out after being chewed up in the reactor hive. THOSE are appropriate reactions lol.
Lastly they could do with making the alien move and act a little more sadistically. Part of what was freaky about the original alien is it was largely unbothered by human presence and basically toyed with people until it decided to kill them. They did a better job of this in ep3. Xenos have way more aura when they are both intelligent sadistic monsters, as well as belligerent killing machines.
Overall though I like the show a lot, the plot and intrigue between WEY YU and Prodigy is solid, they are hitting a lot of interesting sci fi themes with the attempt at immortality via child cyborgs, and the interactions with Xenos and other great parasites is very interesting. People have said it’s almost like a blade runner vibe in the background the whole time and it’s kinda true and very entertaining. We’re gonna have to see what they do with character dev and the plot goin forward, but so far so good.
