I had a dream on this…the dream also switched from 2D and 3D, and the runners delivered them to a mad scientist…dont worry about that part though.
Allow a base runner to have a ‘special’ grab. Possibly as an ability. After about 1.5 sec windup, with both the runner and target standing still, they ‘chomp’ grab their target, marine or pred. The target will be stunned for 3 to 4 seconds, and the runner can slowly drag…about 6 to 8 tiles worth in that time. The stunned enemy can be hurt, but no other disarm, lunge, etc will work on them. Immediately after the stun they can get up and act.
The idea is 2 runners with perfect timing could chain-stun a predator. If the 2nd runner chomps too early, the chomp will have no effect, as under the 1st chomp the pred is immune to all other stun. If the 2nd runner chomps too late, it gives the pred enough time to move, or smack the runner, or start SD.
Now there would be a way for the hive mid-combat to pin down a predator, carefully slash enough to remove the mask, and have a huggie come to hug. Prime roonies with practice could even slowly drag the pred back to the hive for capture. Of course that pred should have called for backup to stop the chain chomping if he was to be dragged for that long.
It would be a meme to use this on marines. You should have just disarmed. I suppose you can do it against marines for practice though.
Ehh, even with the whole hive chasing a pred it is rare to ever get a cap, let alone a few xenos. thwomper’s gif does make a good point though.
The only part of the idea I wanted to add: the runners are support. There’s no way to initiate the stun combo without a scree, or 3 other xenos blocking a pred in, or some kind of warrior lunge chain. 1.5 sec is a long time in pred combat. And then holding them beyond that would require some skill.
The idea did come from a dream though, so my dreaming self probably just hyped up the idea. It would be nice to have some interaction with preds other than primes doing honor duels.
Pred players who got capped, if you see this topic, how did you ever manage to get capped?
