For living Queens, XO, CO; nothing sucks worse then trying to commend your team mates and make sure people were acknowledged for the game to suddenly end mid medal or jelly for the young drone who gave their all or the PVT’s glorious last stand.
It’d be nice if each command player had a chance to delay the round for atleast five minutes so they know exactly how much time they have to get medals out.
Medal Ceremonies are very very cool and soulful, getting a chance to put on our dress blues for my galactic cross was so cool seeing everyone together; not that they should happen every round allthough I do think that its good to have a bit of a pallet cleanser before the next round (that isnt just mass CLF spawns)
I agree for XOs/COs, but not Queen players. You have hijack to write as many jellies as you like, and xeno majors already tend to drag out for a long time after the round has already been decided.
I also wish more people took thirty seconds to submit a medal recommendation BEFORE the round had ended. So many medals aren’t written because people submit them right before round-end which doesn’t leave enough time for the XO/CO to approve them.
As Queen main, I believe this is a bit unnecessary for both sides. If people want to give medals, there’s always time to write them as the round comes to an end, be it during Hijack if you’re a Queen, or in the period between evacuating the planet and Hijack if you’re CO/XO.

Is exactly that - to give command time for medals. This has already been in place a while. As far as getting them written, that’s also why medal recommendations are a thing so SLs and such can write out the recommendation.
It can also be argued that CO/XO have the time to write medals when marines are bug hunting after the queen/hive core goes down. I dont think its fair that xenos shouldnt get 5 mins after round but marines should, and force xenos to wait even longer for the round to end.
besides, you can always ahelp and ask to delay the round for medal ceremonies if needed but it shouldnt be a round to round thing where only one side is favoured over the other
there are tons of times where maybe the CO is deployed or a runner gets loose in CIC and jumps the guy writting the medal! not every round is a calm end
Actually good suggestion. Currently we get 3 minutes of mandatory RP every time, even if there is literally no one to give medals. Just let aCO delay the round end for a few additional minutes if CIC needs it for some reason, like medals or maybe memorial/debrief and remove/reduce the mandatory 3 minutes.
I like this implementation. Set the normal round-end timer to 1 minute and give CIC the option to extend it. Could be locked to CO only so that it’s used for meaningful round-end RP and medal writing.
I don’t play XO very much anymore but the issue I found was that it was oft difficult to write medals in the three minutes and make them look ‘good’, in some form or fashion. Anyone can write a medal that’s “killed the enemy real good took charge and left clicked the queen to death”, but without having a txt file full of generic pre-built ‘During Operation xxx, [text], Falling Falcons 52nd Battallion whatthefuck ever’ I found that even with the three minutes it was hard to write more than one or MAYBE two if they were short, and I type relatively fast.
I want medals handed out to look nice and be something memorable, and often times I never had the time to make them presentable. So, I was faced either with ‘give out generic and ugly (imo) medals’ or ‘pick one marine who really astounded me and give him a nice one’. Maybe that’s fine, honestly, but I think medals should be given out more often (the lower tier ones at least…) as a pat on the back that you did good that round.
I also, personally, don’t think three minutes will kill anybody if CIC or the Queen wants a few more moments to write out a medal. If someone did something cool they think deserves recognition, then what’s the harm in it, honestly? It’s not like admins don’t delay round every now and again for much longer than that anyway.
