Excuses that Host guarding was in anyway not so bad, are always objectivly wrong.

Learn to move the movable powerloader, or actually hunt down the xeno onboard.
But dont compare 20m out of 50hr with 50hr out of 50hr standing in palce as if its even remotly the same.

You don’t need to guard the powerloaders if there is a rouge drone aboard. Hell, thats the opposite of what you should do. What you SHOULD do is hunt the drone down until it is very dead. Seal vents, wrench some up, and walk around with MDs. You have an entire MP department to do this, alongside shipside engineering, wounded marines in medical, nurses and DCCs. If all you do to a shipside drone is to send 5 bravos to certain parts of the map to guard it, you are an imbecile.

So no. You don’t guard shipside stuff really. You hunt down the drone/runner/lurker/whatever and kill it. And yes. When marines are so incompetant to have a burst shipside, they do get to deal with the problems of a xeno shipside. Just like if a xeno drags a consious marine into the hive, and the said marine gets to pop off his 5-10 nades killing himself and any nearby cap. Again, punished by incompetance.

Reading and not understanding said written text is a skill issue, but IRL.

I am not saying guarding caps is not that bad, I am saying that guarding powerloaders and other shit is just as bad. A difference, subtle it may be, but an important distinction.

Yeah, sure, make a PR that every PFC gets one powerloader level, otherwise it is unmovable by anyone with half a braincell.

Time it takes is meaningless, it is either 20 minutes standing around doing nothing, or it is 50 hours standing around doing nothing. Somebody gotta do it, because if you don’t it is declared ā€œskill issueā€.

I agree. What I disagree is one particular way of punishing other marines for that. That being forced to stay and defend some shit like powerloaders, or comms APC. Whole CIC can be killed by that one stupid fucking drone, req can be wrecked, medbay dunked, research maimed, CL capped and mess turned into a hive.
But FORCING lone shmuck to defend some shitty place for extended period where he might, or might not see any action, but must stay vigilant all the time, otherwise he can just be killed, is simply bad.

Yeah, I have been in that scenario a couple of times. ā€œYo, PFC, go guard comms, there is a rogue xeno shipside, that is a direct orderā€. Then standing around there for half an hour seeing a xeno pop out once, or twice to check if anybody is there and if he saw me react, he just run away. That shit is lame and worse than being brigged, or killed. In that case you can alt+tab and watch YT, or whatever.

No one is forced to stay alone and vigilant all the time in a remote place of a map for extended period of time doing nothing because of that.
Again, because I might be misunderstood:
I am not against punishments for other people incompetence outright.
I am against one particular way of punishment that some ā€œpeopleā€ argue is a ā€œskill issueā€ if not done.
