Played a round where a burrower was on board. Burrower proceeded to destroy literally every Powerloader rendering OBs useless. Should be either a way to, at great cost to metal or something, repair a Powerloader or at least be able to buy a Powerloader via Req.
Good idea, but you should always defend stuff like powerloaders and comms with a shipside xeno
it’s just a sk*ll issue if you can’t get john bravo or MP beck to protect a powerloader, but I do support the idea of being able to by a powerloader via req or repairing powerloaders with metal to combat this
Probably a good idea to be able to repair, but I would do it with just welding and maybe some cable wire. It’s not like power loaders are incredibly OP, just really necessary for miscellaneous jobs, but very easy to destroy, so making them cost a lot of metal would be bad IMO, but still better than nothing.
Setting a MP or PFC to defend a power loader also just feel like a waste, especially when you consider how bored they will be just sitting there.
Shut yer bitchass xenomain’s yap. Standing in one place for half an hour maybe expecting burrower to pop out, stun you repeatedly and kill you, or maybe not even poping out at all. Riveting gameplay for a player being tasked to do such a thing. It is better to be brigged than stand guard duty on ship.
Oh, don’t forget to station one jane bravo on comms APC, james bravo in OB room, jack bravo in IO room and still have plenty of guys from bravo family members to chase the xeno trough maintenance, dissasembling pipes, fixing APCs, destroying weeds and shit.
Permanesting was introduced because bitchass xenomains couldn’t handle few nested marines in pitch darkness.
Talk like that really irks me off.
I think that buying a new one is the best solution. If marines don’t defend the powerloaders, it should waste a significant amount of req budget, but not permanently cripple the marines by removing the ability to reload CAS and OBs.
Oops wrong reply, meant to reply to the one above
Buying a new one I think is fine, it’s not a huge problem overall. HUGE rarity for one to be damaged.
Also permanesting was introduced because nobody enjoyed it, if it’s not a good idea for a marine to be stuck guarding a thing shipside with nothing happening for 20 minutes, that was the same shit that permanesting did but for xenos.
Ah yes, the mark of shit arguments. Always nice to see people to say being forced to stay in hive and do nothing was good in any way.
You also gotta remember that sneaking aboard the alamo got nerfed several times already. The only way now to get on the alamyer pre-hijack is to burst shipside basicly.
they do have a point though about people being forced to wait around and defend key locations instead of hunting and playing the game
No.
If it’s just cable and some welding, it makes destroying them/trying to disable the OB literally pointless, there’s no actual meaningful resource constraint, you are just adding some small busywork to effectively sabotage-proof the OB gun.
Instead, I propose making powerloaders something req can buy for a price, so there’s a conscious choice in either trying to replace broken shipside gear or to continue supplying the front.
I think you can make a case for it to BOTH be repaired and purchased. Because you can just completely destroy a powerloader fully, making it non-repairable.
Make it require plasteel to repair? Plasteel availability is a lot more limited than metal, so this requires a certain commitment of resources. Also, I do mean a lot of plasteel, 40 of it perhaps? I’m not sure how the req economy works to be entirely honest. Or make it require items from all the departments, turn it into a bit of a scavenger hunt? Need a specific oil or hydraulic fluid from research, power cell from engineering, parts from the vehicle fab, and so on.
Being forced to baby sit caps is shit and always will be. No argument can make it fun.
Guess what: Being forced to baby sit powerloaders, OB room (when bald doctors let larvae escape), comms, or LZ flanks is the same.
Yet nobody calls out this type of bullshit when it comes to marines, but oh god XENOS forced to do the same? Abhorrent idea!
Every type of “sit here and guard it because MAYBE something will come here” are shitty. Selectively saying that one side has to do it, otherwise “skill issue” and the other has to not do it, otherwise “bullshit” is a brain xenomainism in the purest of forms.
adding extra steps like this is just tedious though, and makes it less likely to actually be done… it should just be outright purchasable
Powerloaders, shipside comms, and the OB room are ALMOST never touched by a xeno before hijack. And as mentioned above, is so hard to do that the only way to “reliably” do it, is to burst shipside. And bursting shipside can only happen due to marine incompetance (Slow alamo cycling, no doctors ready, slow to get to fob, slow use of stasis bag, etc.).
Comms i would almost get, if you couldn’t autism fort it with a flame turret, where you need a rav, a T3 or the queen to be able to bust it down. And if you actually have a rav, T3 or a queen, then that comms was already lost even with 2 guys defending it.
LZ flanks though is another story. Its basicly the lifeblood for bravo now a days, and xenoes have to deal with the same thing themselves. So I don’t perticulary see this as an issue, unless marines become incapable to flank the hivecore.
Having to deal with your teams fuck up and kill someone = Having to spend every round for 2 hours in a corner because you decided to play Xeno
Least Marine cope take
But when they do, having to guard them (because they are either irreplaceable, or laboruous to fix) is just as shitty as guarding a host. Atleast with caps you can try to RP something and you know somebody will try to escape, while guarding powerloaders because there is a luckey drone running around in maints and vents is even less engaging.
“Marine incompetence” should not excuse FORCING someone to sit in one place and do nothing, but still expecting something to maybe happen. It is not HRP 20 hours round server where you can be excused to experience what real guard duty is, mind-numbingly boring. It can excuse kiling my character, it can excuse helping xenos, it can excuse many things, but not something that is only slightly better from being left under anesthetic.
It is not a talk about post-hijack, nobody cares about powerloaders post-hijack, they are essentialy useless. Almost like caps.
Having to stand around in one fucking place for extended period of time and not kill anything, because if it is guarded, lone drone won’t fight you.
Guarding hosts = guarding powerloaders and other shit.
Frick xenomains all my homies frick them.
