Double M39 Belt Rigs (the ones with ammo included), Reflex sight, recoil comp, angled grip, AP ammo only.
You will melt anything below T3 with armor tho half your shots will miss

Alright, here’s the best build for the m39:

  • Recoil compensator
  • S4 x2 Telescopic Mini-Scope
  • Submachinegun Stock

Now take that weapon and throw it down a disposal chute, and you’ve successfully used it to get rid of shit attachments. Now get yourself an Mk2 like a real marine.

tried this one, absolute shreder, i dont even know how but it works

A great tip with M39s is that bayo+ stock one hits weed nodes, it’s full damage is at 2-3 tiles range, and with the extended and ammo box, just mag dump, you got 600/72 + 2 Extendeds

Not just that, the falloff past that point is bad too. You lose like 6 or 7 damage per tile beyond that. That’s why a lot of people think it’s a peashooter, because if you aren’t hugging your enemy - it is.

Honestly 90% of the problem with the m39 comes from people trying to use it in a sensible way instead of like a fucking maniac.

You really have to suppress that part of you that desires surviving longer than 5 minutes in a round. This is a gun that you charge into xenos with and then chase them down and either kill them or get infinity warrior grab stunned by everything and die 20 miles into brazil.

If you try to use it like most other marine weapons, especially like the M41, it sucks and is bad and it’s awful.

Exactly. I have stat comparisons of a m39 on the left with meta attachments (m39 stock, angled grip, reflex sight, and bayonet) compared to a base m41a (stock folded and underbarrel grenade launcher).

Looking at the m39 wielded accurate range and how it has little movement speed penalty while using, this is a chasing weapon 100% and you need to be hugging your target the entire duration.

I would say the bayo+m39 stock is really good at hive clearing (it appears to deal more damage than a machete to walls and doors). The m39 really shines against backliners or as a pointman/chasing wounded xenos.

I personally take:
Magharn (I will die, I don’t like my weapon getting melted)
Bayo (1shot weed nodes)
Laser Sight (Accuracy yipee)

Preload 1 extended mag into my m39
Mag pouch (2 AP 1 extended)
Armor holds 2 extra mags (usually AP or regular)

Seeing this, you might think “hey won’t you run out of ammo in like, 5 seconds?”
and you’re right! that’s why I always hold a 10x20mm bullet box that I bring with me to the frontlines, where i’ll drop if a sufficient distance away (so that it doesn’t get flame’d) and retreat to it to refill my extended mags.

My satchel typically holds:
1 spare mag
2 flare packs (I need light to chase better),
along with utilities (extinguisher, health analyzer, etool, Unga flask [sometimes])

Belt slot depends on whether I’m using JTAC for fultons and signal flares with the added bonus of MD pings (G8), or simply dropping my G8 and fully wearing my MD.

M39 rushing is really fun until you get warrior’d or slugged in the back when chasing a drone or m2c’d in the back when chasing a rav or have someone else unload 24 1
0x20mm bullets into you when you’re trying to shoot a vamp lurker. But other than that chasing to confirm kills is omega fun

This. I roll burst fire with:

Reflex
Solid stock
Vert Grip
Bayonet

Stock choice is a matter of preference – I like the solid since I run it as a primary, but deployed the extendable stock is fairly close (you get 2 less scatter reduction and 5 less melee damage for the convenience, and the slowdown difference is only noticeable if you’re wearing zero armor).

Burst fire is really important for this setup. With the cumulative -10 scatter and -3 burst scatter these attachments give you, sprite clicking lets you reliably land 99% of your shots on target at anything but max range (though you should still try to be as close as possible to maximize your damage).

And you should ALWAYS BE WIELDING! One of the big features of the M39 is extremely negligible slowdown from wielding.

Here’s a somewhat old clip to demonstrate – fresh off hiatus so I’m not playing super well (those reloads holy shit), but you can see the scatter is all but an afterthought.

If you plan on using this as your one and only chase weapon - then remove the stock (it applies slowdown even when collapsed due to some goofy ahh code) and attach RS, vertigrip and EB to compensate for it. You might also try arm brace, but it sucks fat xeno dick and makes half your bullets miss even with RC.

The loadout I use is:

  • MOU (RS, vertigrip) on the back.
  • M39 (stock, MH, Agrip, bayo) on the armor.
  • MD on the belt.
  • One pouch for fleshettes, one for AP mags.
  • Ext mags go in B12 armor.
  • Helmet and webbing for healing stuff.

The point of this loadout is to get into a hugging range with some overextended xeno, magdump MOU and start shredding them with M39 at point blank range (click behind them to avoid delay). Ideally you should also bodyblock. That can be risky sometimes, but hey, where’s the fun in B8 M4RA, MK1 or any other ‘safe’ weapons?)

P.S. Ideally you should only spend AP rounds on defenders and crushers (HV are just wet noodles against those two), since you won’t be seeing any new AP M39 mags in frontline supply drops (some CTs don’t even send HV ones)

solid stock, reflex sight/mag harness, vgrip, bayonet. what little movement penalty you get from the attachments doesn’t matter, you’ll end up with 3 fracs 10 minutes into the round anyways.
steal every single AP m39 mag you can get your hands on
remove whatever key moves you away from xenos on your keyboard. you do not need it
when you see a T3 (ravs), push forward, hold lmb and give them a warm, loving hug

the effective range of the m39 is 4 tiles. anything past that you start losing damage. everyone who says the gun is shit doesn’t know how to use it. wintermote puts it best, do not expect to live using this gun

I disagree on the x2 scope. It is good on Mk2 for siege to ward off sentinels, spitters and sometimes boilers. It certainly works well behind cades.

magharn - ag - bayo - stock(?) + flares + laser desig/rangefinder
throw flare
see spitter trying to melt your flare using binos or a drone trying to weed
run him down with your m39
i put stock in there since it basically acts like a machette so you wont need a slot for it.

The correct take.

Anything that makes the burst go in 90 degree angles while moving. It is always funny
