Anyone have playlists they use for specific characters?

Title pretty much.

It came up in passing on a call, and some said yes, some said no- Colour me curious.

(suggestions for songs for a W-Y playlist also welcome)

I just either stick on the blue cassette or listen to my Spotify playlist regardless of what character I’m playing. Good music makes you braver and thus die kill more!

I like the Mirror’s Edge soundtrack as of late for frontlining (excellent rising and lowering tension, perfect for a fight that may well last over an hour) and stuff like the FTL soundtrack and old Deus Ex (think the UNATCO theme) for shipside Staff Officer or I/O work.

A couple of my particularly recurring characters have dedicated playlists. Otherwise, I’ve got a few I use for different role types, like a mix of more intense combat music (mostly Ultrakill because peak) for groundside roles, or music from RTS games like Command and Conquer for CIC work
It’s a legal obligation to listen to ā€œWhat You Won’t Do for Loveā€ while in the Corporate Liaison’s escape pod listening to the screams of the Marines getting overrun

As for WY brand songs, depends on whether we’re talking just the Company as whole or specifically Liaison/PMC/whatever as well as whether or not it needs to adhere to the whole ā€œnothing after 1975 ICā€ policy but some of my thoughts would be:
The Data Stream - The Stupendium
Money - Pink Floyd
Sharp Dressed Man - ZZ Top
Lawyers, Guns and Money - Warren Zevon
Never Let Me Down Again - Depeche Mode
Social Climb - I DON’T KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME
Money For Nothing - Dire Straits
Do the Evolution - Pearl Jam
Peace Sells - Megadeth

When I play rifleman I generally play a bunch of helldiver music and metal.
Weirdly enough I enjoy some classical music as chef

my go to for my successful corpo character is oddly money money money - by abba.
The unsuccesful one I tend to just play Bills.

(the day I get warned for my song choice being post 1975, ill lose faith in the staff)

I went to a Woodstock nin tribute band concert for the anniversary and some dude asked me if I was doing ā€œblack faceā€ when I covered myself in mud for the nin cover band…

I usually have my soundboard ready, so when I have specific gameplay ā€œeventsā€ I play the appropiate ambient music to increase my immersion.

Such as:

  • When I’m looting scrap around as IO, normal ā€œatmosphere.ā€ (NOTHING EVER HAPPENS)
    https://youtu.be/EJQrbCb7fNc

  • When my MD gets two pings or more, a resin trap is triggered or I see a LOT of xenos (Spotted, In danger, GTFO situation, the atmosphere is now compromised.)

  • EFT OST ( Get Scrap - Exfil - Profit, play it on alamo or FOB when safe)

For rifleman.. well…

It’s just Halo, Two steps from hell, vietnam era music, Iron maiden or just any cassette from the vendor.

oh yeah, I got music for my characters, but I mainly got songs for the different factions (personal favorite is ā€œWe’ve got hostiles remixā€ for WY PMCs)

stoner metal/80-90s pop for Gramps. Funeralopolis hits hard 12 whiskeys deep but so does Barbie Girl

The image of Gramps jamming out to Barbie Girl is both hilarious and terrifying.
