BANG the CO is dead and the rest of CIC is dead too ( for some reason) now the next aCO can be anyone so APOLLO chooses a PVT so the PVT can launch the lifeboats?
“Capitan Executive Officer is now aCO”
…
“2nd LT Intel Officer is now aCO”
Seven seconds later.
“Seargent Squad Leader is now aCO”
…
“Corporal FTL is now aCO”
…
“Lance Corporal Corpsman is now aCO”
…
“Private First Class Riflemen is now aCO”
…
…
.
if you have no officers left just embrace the suck and die a glorious death
I can see the reason for having ARES notices officers all dead and release the id lock. But then it defeats the point of having a living officer to launch boats, and not some random pfc launching both boats then yell “BANZAI!!!”
we have a chain of command. Move this to acid goop.
You mean like the COs guns DNA lock chooses a random marine as the new owner after the previous died?
found the option to change it, nice
Technically it’d be ARES. APOLLO is a small subprocessor attached like a tumor to ARES to control the Working Joes, and is significantly less advanced.
If you somehow mess up hard enough where every single person with sufficient clearance to launch the boats is dead and unable to be saved and there’s no escape pods to use instead, you probably SHOULD have to retake the ship. I mean if ARES can start making up it’s own mind as to who is the commander, next thing you know it’s gonna start an AI uprising and the Working Joes are going to overthrow the CIC.
A long, long time ago back when I was staff I would always make an announcement using admin tools that the sole surviving marine is now the acting Commander of the Sulaco/Almayer. It usually got a rise out of the player (but this was also long before the automated system that tells you, you’re the sole survivor).
@Gentlefood We invite you to the table.
